Colorado Winter Wedding Photography | Trash the Dress Photography | Colorado Ice Castles

March 23, 2014

If this shoot doesn’t show off the beauty of Colorado winter wedding photography, I am not sure what will!  Lyndsey had a gorgeous summer wedding at Della Terra Mountain Chateau in Estes Park, but she put her wedding dress back on for a completely different “winter wonderland”  look.  I really love bridal/trash the dress sessions, that’s why I did multiple after my own wedding!  It’s fun to put your dress on again.  You can get more pretty pictures in your dress, but you can have fun with it and play around with some different looks.  It’s also much more relaxed than the wedding day.

I don’t think we could have had a more beautiful setting for this session.  The Breckenridge Ice Castles are so unbelievably stunning, it’s like something out of a fairytale!  Though Lyndsey was pretty chilly when the wind kicked up, and the ice was dripping water all over us, it ended up being a beautiful day.  We were originally supposed to do the shoot in early February, but the high ended up being 7 degrees that day.  We decided to reschedule since we didn’t want Lyndsey to be bluish purple in the photos, or get sick from being in a strapless wedding gown!  It was a slushy mess the day we were there, but I think the end result totally makes up for it.  I have so many favorites from the shoot, so needless to say, it’s a long blog post!  Enjoy 🙂

I brought out my tilt-shift lens for a few minutes for a dreamy, ethereal look.  It looks like she’s floating!

The bouquet by Lace & Lilies was beautiful, I love the pops of red and the playful pine cones!

We had fun with this “lumberjack bride” look.  The lacy back on the flannel kept it feminine, and still showed off the back of the dress 🙂

Lyndsey’s Jimmy Choo heels were stunning!  I loved all of the embellishments, the mesh tops, and the zippers on the back.  Major SWOON!

I had some fun playing with Lyndsey’s ring and my macro lens at the end of the session, while she warmed up!

The ice kept my beverage nice and cold the entire afternoon 🙂
