Next up on the blog is Katie and Derek’s Estes Park engagement photography session. Anytime I can photograph a loving, beautiful couple in Rocky Mountain National Park, I am a happy photographer. This session was definitely one of my personal favorites from the year! Katie and Derek traveled from Kansas City for a little engagement vacation. They wanted to take advantage of the gorgeous Colorado scenery while they were here, and have engagement photos taken. For their session we went to both Bear Lake and Sprague Lake. These are both great locations for Colorado engagement photos. They are close to each other, gorgeous, and have very different vibes. Therefore, they are locations that I get to photograph at quite a bit 🙂
In fact, I have enjoyed photographing in RMNP so much lately, that I have even decided to have my own maternity photos done there. I may just share a few here once I have them taken in February. It’s always so strange to be on the other side of the camera, but definitely very good for me. This helps me relate to my clients more, and remember that it can be awkward to be in front of a camera. This helps me know what things may feel too unnatural, and I can be sure to avoid them when photographing my own clients. Katie and Derek were not the least bit awkward in front of the camera though, and I hope they enjoyed cuddling and laughing in front of my lens!
How cool is this swirly, twisty effect?! This was my first time using my new Lensbaby twist lens, and I just love the result.
It was so fitting to end the session with a wildlife photobomb 🙂 And with that, this fun-filled engagement session was officially a wrap!
