Years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Pam Bell Photography in Charleston, SC, at the real wedding workshop of her son and daughter-in-law. We also both attended another of Bob & Dawn Davis’ real wedding workshops in Georgia in 2015. We have been Facebook friends since, and kept in touch through there. Pam’s daughter lives in Boulder, and Pam was going to be heading out to Colorado to shoot a wedding in October 2016. Pam’s son is normally her second shooter in Florida, but there was a hurricane heading their way :'( Her son was not able to get out here to shoot with her, and so she reached out to me. I happened to not have a wedding myself that weekend. I did have a portrait session planned, but my clients were nice enough to reschedule for me. So, my husband and I booked a hotel room, and headed out to help capture these Salida wedding photos.
I don’t recall ever having visited Salida before, boy was I missing out! It is such a beautiful area, and not touristy like some of the other mountain towns. I think my husband was pretty bored, hanging out in the hotel room, watching tv, and heading into town for a few beers at a local brewery by himself. But meanwhile, Pam and I were having a blast photographing Rebecca and Jason’s beautiful Salida wedding photos.
After meeting and photographing this sweet, fun-loving couple, for a little while, I learned that not only did they not live in Salida, but they actually own a home in Firestone. I live in Firestone! There was an interesting chain of events that took place, in order to have me there to photograph their day. I was over 3 hours from home, and then the couple winds up living 5 minutes away from me. How crazy and humorous is that?!
The Big Horn Lodge outside of Salida is a picture perfect location for a Colorado fall wedding. The venue is new to weddings, but it shouldn’t be hard to draw many nature-loving Colorado couples here. I, for one, would love to shoot here again…it is simply stunning! Rebecca and Jason’s guests loved it too, no doubt! Some of my favorite parts of their day were, their amazing ceremony decor, including the rustic, wooden doors. As well as their sweet “first touch” behind said doors, having their dogs as their ring bearers, and finally, Rebecca’s custom bridal Chacos and wearing her mother’s own wedding gown. Rebecca looked amazing in it! It’s funny how trends come back around, isn’t it? Modest, long-sleeve, lace dresses are totally on trend right now 🙂
It was official!! And these two were SO excited about it 🙂

Thanks Pam for having me along, it was such a great day! Fall Colorado weddings never disappoint, and I loved being part of Rebecca and Jason’s day 🙂
Enjoy your weekend, friends. Coming to the blog next week is another beautiful couple, in the colorful Colorado mountains. Hillary and Chance visited Breckenridge over the summer, and I was lucky enough to capture some mile high engagement photos while they were here.
