June is here! You know what that means…lots of sunny, summery shoots in my future. Bringing the opposite kind of session to the blog today though LOL. A snowy, frigid, (but oh so beautiful!) winter session from the Dillon Ice Castles. Shooting at the Colorado ice castles is one of my favorite winter spots! It’s such a unique location. Since the Dillon location was one of just four locations in the United States, not just anyone gets to have a portrait session here 🙂 You may already know, but the ice castles had not been in Colorado for a few years, so many people didn’t realize they were back. Because of this I hadn’t booked any ice castles Colorado engagement photography sessions yet, so I put out a “model call” on Facebook. I was searching for a couple or two to capture icy (and steamy) couples portraits for. Kendra and Matt were one of the first couples to respond.
I did boudoir photos for Kendra way back when I first started dabbling in photography. She was my first boudoir client, and it was so much fun. It was great having her in front of my camera again, and Matt for the first time. These two, like Derek and I, are about to celebrate their 8th year wedding anniversary next month. How time flies! While they normally love including their adorable kiddos in their photos, it’s always nice to have updated photos with your honey too 🙂 They made a mini-vacation out of the trip to Dillon, got a babysitter, and stayed the night up in the mountains. I love that…great idea!
It almost looks like we had the place to ourselves…doesn’t it?! Nope, lots of people all around 😉 Everyone was very respectful, though, and allowed us to get all of the shots we wanted without getting in the way.
So glad they were up for playing on one of the slides! I love fun, and adventurous couples!!

I believe the ice castles will be back at the end of 2018, so if you would like your own winter wonderland photo session, please be in touch! Or if summer is more of your jam, let’s chat soon and get your session on the calendar 🙂 Many more ice castle photos to share with you soon…check back. Have an amazing weekend!
