Sara and Bennie were taking a quick summer camping trip to Estes Park. Since Sara was expecting, they thought it would be a fun place to take some pregnancy portraits. Quite different than rural Texas, where they came from! For these Estes Park maternity pictures, we headed into beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park. We visited a couple gorgeous hotspots, Moraine Park and Sprague Lake. I love these two spots, because they are relatively close together, and you get great variety. Mountain views at both locations, of course. But you also get open fields and a nice stream at Moraine Park. While Sprague Lake boasts some of my personal favorite views around! As well, some wooden docks and bridges, to add a little variety to the photos.
Sara had also hoped to get wildflowers in the photos. I wasn’t quite sure I could make that happen. This isn’t a part of Colorado that’s really known for sprawling fields of flowers or anything. We did manage to find some though! We found patches of yellow at Moraine Park, and an even sparser patch of purple as we were wrapping up at Sprague Lake. I have photographed in a sunflower field. It, however, would be absolutely amazing to photograph in a massive wildflower field someday too. That would require a trip to a different part of our beautiful state. And it would very likely require a lengthy hike, so probably not ideal for a pregnant mama-to-be. If you are interested in learning more about Colorado wildflowers, check out this guide in 5280…I found it very informative!
This is definitely one of my favorites of their Estes Park maternity pictures. There weren’t a lot of these purple flowers, but when photographed correctly…it can still look pretty epic!

Thank you Sara and Bennie! I enjoyed working together and having your sweet faces in front of my camera 🙂 If you are interested in your own Colorado maternity session…or some other type of portrait session, I would love to be considered. I know it’s so difficult to get plans on the schedule during this time of great unknown. But I will get back to sessions, just as soon as we are legally allowed to again. And of course, once it feels safe and responsible to do so. Be well, friends…take care of yourself and each other!
