Here is my final post with Lexi and Nick…as promised! Capturing these Carlsbad wedding photos was an absolute blast. I don’t think I will ever forget it! Lexi’s family has a vacation home in Carlsbad, and the beach here is a very special for her. She dreamed of wedding photos in the mountains of Colorado, as well as the beach of California. I was thrilled to make these dream a reality. We worked together to create a custom wedding package for them, to work the trip to California in. I am always up to travel though. My husband is such a homebody, so trips are pretty rare for me. Speaking of my husband, he and my 4 year old son came along for the trip. My son had never been on a plane before, and never to the beach either. It was a wonderful photo shoot and an even more wonderful mini vacation. So I thank Lexi and Nick for allowing me to make this trip for their newlywed photoshoot.
My family and I arrived in Carlsbad two days before the photoshoot. My guys and I had time to do some exploring and relaxing before it was time to work again. We also went and did some scouting prior to the session, so I could get ideas for some pretty and picturesque spots for the session. We walked all around taking in downtown Carlsbad and then the Oceanside Pier. Downtown I really liked the big Carlsbad sign. I also spotted a cool red phone booth, some beautiful lush flowers, and colorful wall murals. We spent some time downtown, and stopped at all of these photo opps. Then we headed over to the Oceanside Pier for the bulk of the newlywed photos.
The pier was so packed full of people, and we decided it would look prettier as a backdrop anyway, rather than taking photos on top of the pier.
I love the variety of Carlsbad wedding photos we were able to capture together!
We got romantic golden hour and sunset portraits. As well as more fun candid shots, walking, and dancing barefoot in the sand. We certainly didn’t have the beach to ourselves or anything, but people were polite and gave us space to work. And I photoshopped people out of the background here and there, as needed. We were all so glad that the weather was nice on the evening of their session. It was a bit cloudy, but at least it wasn’t rainy like some of the other days of our trip. All the elements came together for a spectacular session…I am so grateful for that!
Most definitely one of my favorites from their newlywed beach session. These surfers were starting to walk behind them, then they realized they were going to be in the way. So they started to go around us. I said “no, I love that…go ahead and walk through!” Then I tried to time it just right for a unique and cool composition! That seagull flying through was pretty lucky too 🙂
Thank you again Lexi and Nick. Not only was it a memorable session for my photography business. But you also helped me build personal memories with my own family! Without this trip, who knows how long it would be until my 4 year old visited the beach 🙂 I truly hope you love these photos and your Estes Park wedding photos, and will cherish them for a lifetime! Next on the blog, one of my favorite families…the Wicketts. Their Longmont Sandstone Ranch mini session turned out really wonderfully.
