Today I am so pumped to be sharing Caroline and Caleb’s amazingly unique Denver Museum wedding photos. This was definitely one of the most fun weddings I have ever capture! Caroline and Caleb are a joyful and quirky couple. I really wanted to capture photos that represented that. We, of course, got plenty of sweet and romantic bride and groom portraits as well. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is a really important location for Caleb’s family. He and his siblings went there a lot as kids, with their grandparents. Now that he and Caroline tied the knot at this location, it will continue to play an important role in the next generation of their family.
There were so many things to love about this wedding, and so many memorable moments. Some of my favorites were the bride and groom portraits with all of the exhibits, especially the T-Rex and in the pitch black “star exhibit”. I am not calling it a planetarium because it wasn’t that, it was more like a passageway to larger exhibits that happened to have stars on the ceiling. I also really enjoyed the three “first looks” prior to the ceremony. Caroline and Caleb shared an emotional first look outdoors amongst all the greenery. Next, Caleb and his mom had a special reveal. Finally, Caroline tapped her dad on the shoulder and showed off her stunning bridal look. There were plenty of hugs, and even some twirls in her flowy dress…I loved it!
Much of their event took place on the rooftop terrace, overlooking the city. That was a really neat spot, and they had some great weather for their ceremony and nighttime dance party alike! Their vows were full of emotion and laughter. Their dance floor was full of amazing moves, and endless energy! But ending the night dancing amongst the exhibits was the coolest. It felt like we were in one of the “Night at the Museum” movies LOL! Although, no exhibits came to life. Well maybe they did for the guests, but if so, that was probably just too many cocktails 😉
Being petrified in front of the petrified wood LOL! These two kept cracking me up during their Denver museum wedding photos!
Below are the answers Caroline and Caleb gave me on their post-wedding questionnaire. I always love reading these and seeing the wedding from their perspectives!
Getting married to the love of my life
Having family gather together to see us get married
Did anything unexpected happen? What was the outcome?
Planning our wedding and then replanning it again! Changing our guest list from 160 to 22 people (covid).
What ended up being your favorite part of the day?
Getting to dance with the sunset over the mountains
Being together with loved ones and them getting to dance together
What advice would you give to future couples for their wedding?
Go with the flow 🙂 It’ll be perfect but not in the way you necessarily expected.
Were you nervous? How did you squash the nerves?
No nerves since we had to wait an extra year to get married! But it was still nerve wracking giving our vows. How do you put into words how much you the person you are so excited to spend the rest of your life with! We’d say just speak from the heart and simply start writing those first few words.
What was the biggest surprise on your wedding day?
How delighted we were to have a small wedding. It was so great getting to spend time with immediate family and grandparents. We missed everyone else dearly but having it be so intimate really made it special.
What inspired your wedding decor? Did you have a theme in mind?
We were at the museum so had to go with ferns and dinosaurs – but still keep it classy!
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
The small moments and getting to grow and experience life together.
What did you like most about working with Plum Pretty Photography?
Melissa was amazing! Her style perfectly captured how we experienced the day. She was the best!
Why did you pick the venues that you chose?
Caleb’s grandparents use to take him to the museum and is a very important spot for his grandfather. It ended up having an amazing view of the mountains that Caroline and Caleb also couldn’t resist!
What was the biggest challenge you faced in planning your wedding?
Having to delay it a year because of the pandemic and rework so many of the details since we reduced the guest size.
Did you go on a honeymoon? If so, tell me about it!
We ended up going to Alaska which was amazing. We got to hike, raft, and kayak. If was such an amazing way to start our adventure as a married couple!
Thank you Caroline and Caleb…you and your guests were an absolute blast to work with! I will probably always remember your fun and unique wedding day 🙂 Wishing you two a liftetime of fun together! I hope to have your smiling faces in front of my camera again someday. Looking forward to sharing even more Denver museum wedding photos with you all in the coming months! The next one took place at the Wings over the Rockies airplane museum. That was really memorable and unique too! But first, on the blog tomorrow, Paige’s Boulder senior pictures at Chautauqua Park.
