Hooray, it’s Fri-yay! I hope you have something amazing planned for this weekend. Today on the blog I am sharing one of the most unique weddings I have ever photographed. Sara and Jon’s Wings Over the Rockies wedding was so cool and unique! They technically eloped a year prior, but covid didn’t allow them to have their larger wedding celebration then. So they decided to push it back to their one year anniversary. They had a super small, intimate ceremony upstairs in the flight tower space upstairs at the venue. The venue coordinator thinks they were the first to ever have their ceremony up there! Like I said, this day was unique. That space was really tight, and a bit challenging to photograph. But we made it work, and it actually worked best for such a small group. Other huge parts of the museum would have visually “swallowed up” this intimate group.
The majority of their guests came later for the reception portion of the event. People were in awe of the cool space and spent a lot of time exploring the museum and taking in the amazing setting. Some of my favorite parts of the day included all of the unique, vintage planes. Incorporating their baby daughter into their special day, she was just precious in her beautiful tulle dress and fur shrug. I also really loved all of their reception details, especially the DIY donut wall and their sweetheart table decor. Guests really loved getting silly in the photo booth and checking out the flight simulator. Who can say they’ve been on a flight simulator during a wedding reception?! Seriously, so cool!
This is definitely one of my favorites from their Wings Over the Rockies wedding photos. I did spend a ton of time editing distractions out of the background, but I think it was worth it…I just love it!!
I liked this plane already, but then it had a number 26 on it. Their wedding day was February 26th, so I knew I could easily photoshop another 2 in front to make it represent their wedding date! Turned out pretty cute 🙂
She’s definitely mom and dad’s “little angel”!
Thanks so much Sara and Jon. I really enjoyed photographing your unique wedding celebration. I would really love to work at this fun venue again, if there are any other Wings Over the Rockies future wedding couples out there! Coming to the blog next week, the wonderful Scholtes family’s fall portraits in Lyons. As well as a windy, winter wonderland maternity session in Rocky Mountain National Park with Tami and Bert. Wishing you a wonderful, relaxing weekend!
