This has been the year of the MacKenzie (Mackenzie, McKenzie…)! I’ve worked with a bunch of them. This MacKenzie was referred by a past client, which is always so appreciated. I did her boyfriend’s twin sisters’ photos a few years ago. You can see Ashley’s session HERE. And you can see Bailey’s photos HERE. It’s a small world though, it turns out I actually went to high school with MacKenzie’s mom and uncle! MacKenzie LOVES sunflowers and really wanted to incorporate them into her Silver Creek High school senior pictures. We decided on Anderson Farms for her session. We got tickets for their “you pick your own sunflowers” event. Unfortunately we got a message that they were refunding ticket holders because the sunflowers didn’t grow well this year, and many got destroyed in a storm. We were definitely bummed.
We just couldn’t find a great backup location that really featured big, beautiful sunflowers (which MacKenzie had envisioned). Since we had originally planned on also going to Golden Ponds Nature Area as a secondary location during her shoot, we decided to just stick with that one location instead. MacKenzie and her mom brought a bouquet of sunflowers along and we added those into a handful of her senior images. Luckily there were even some smaller, natural sunflowers growing at Golden Ponds. So we were sure to get some photos with those as well. In the end they were satisfied with the amount of sunflowers incorporated into the photos. And they were thrilled with the images overall…as was I!

This is one of my favorites from MacKenzie’s Silver Creek High school senior pictures. I love this candid moment and her joyful smile!

MacKenzie is such a character. I had such a fun time working together. She is bubbly, personable, photogenic and obviously gorgeous! We got so much great variety during her Golden Ponds session. MacKenzie wore two main outfits during her photo shoot, but also threw on her Silver Creek jersey for a few additional images. She started in jeans, a white tank top, and cowgirl boots. She wore this outfit near the waterfall, on the bridge, and sitting on a large log. For the majority of the session MacKenzie wore a long white dress with ruffle sleeves. She wore this outfit in a field of long grasses, posing in front of the ponds, and finally IN a small pond at the end. The wet dress, feet/legs were totally worth it for these stunning, unique images!

Thanks so much MacKenzie, I had such a blast working together! Wishing you the best during your final year of high school and with all of your future endeavors. Next on the blog, Sophia’s Boulder senior photos at the always beautiful, always popular Chautauqua Park. Check back soon!
