During the spring I photographed Jacob’s surprise proposal to Katie at the St. Julien in Boulder. Followed by a surprise engagement party as well. Both turned out beautifully and it was such a pleasure to work with these two. When Jacob reached out again, planning a super intimate September elopement, I was thrilled! It was just the two of them and myself for this Denver Botanic Gardens wedding. They signed their marriage license, shared some sweet words, and we got a ton of great photos all around the gardens. The Denver Botanic Gardens is one of Katie’s very favorite places, so it was the perfect spot for their last minute elopement. The gardens were so lush and gorgeous! They even embraced the dramatic weather at the end and danced and kissed in the rain. So memorable! We were drenched, but it was so worth it.
I have only shot at the Denver Botanic Gardens one other time, so I didn’t know the lay of the land very well. They are experts though, so we could move quickly from one beautiful spot to the next. Katie and Jacob knew exactly where they were going. We started at the Woodland Mosaic solarium. There was an event going on there last time I shot at the gardens, so this was the first time I got to photograph the solarium. It’s so pretty, I’m glad it was open this time. Katie surprised Jacob with a nice pen in a wooden pen box with a quote from their favorite book on it. It’s a great quote: “I will love you until the sun dies. And when it does, I will love you in the darkness.” -Pierce Brown, Red Rising series
Even though this wasn’t their “big wedding celebration”, they still dressed very nicely for the occasion. Katie wore a tea length white dress, fingertip length veil, and white wedge heels. Jacob wore a white button down shirt and navy blue slacks. What a great looking pair!

This is definitely one of my favorites from Katie and Jacob’s Denver Botanic Gardens wedding photos. Such a sweet, tender moment in a gorgeous, colorful setting!

Wishing you two newlyweds a lifetime of happiness together! It was so amazing playing a small role in these two very special days in your lives.
