Krista + Brett | Lyons Wedding Photographer | Lionscrest Manor Wedding

February 24, 2014

I am making some more progress on blogging, and promise to never get this behind again!  Up next is Krista & Brett’s beautiful Lionscrest Manor wedding.  Their wedding was an amazing celebration and coming together of families, and cultures.  Many of Brett’s Canadian family and friends made the trip to Colorado.  They were such a fun group, and so kind and gracious the entire day.

Krista is another one of my dance friends from years ago.  We grew up dancing at the same studio, and then were able to reconnect when we both danced for the Colorado Eagles as “Eagles Chicks”.  Krista joined the Eagles Chicks to continue her passion for dance while in college, and then fate stepped in.  Guess who one of the Eagles players was?  You got it…Brett!  I don’t think anyone on our dance team expected to meet their future husbands while dancing for the Eagles, but Krista and another Eagles Chick married their hockey player hunnies this past summer!  I think this is such an amazing and sweet love story.  Without further ado, here are a bunch of photos from their colorful Colorado, hockey detailed wedding.

Krista moved to Canada to be with Brett, just after their wedding.  I saw the flags and mountains outside, while I was photographing the shoes, and decided to focus on these so Krista could remember Colorado anytime she wants 🙂

Krista had the most beautiful bouquet courtesy of Reale Events.  I love succulents, I love purple, it was just perfect!

For some reason this photo cracks me up!!  Bridal bodyguard maybe? 🙂

Krista’s bridesmaids were a stunning group of ladies…aren’t these dresses amazing?!  Since they were all a tad worried about walking down the stone steps during the ceremony, they each turned around once they made it to the bottom of the stairs and yelled (up towards the remaining girls and Krista) “nailed it!”.  Everyone was cracking up.  They all “nailed it”, there were no falls!

Great looking group of guys as well!

This is Krista’s late father’s cowboy hat.  The flower girls tossed rose petals from the hat, and then gave it to Brett.  Brett put the remaining petals on the empty chair next to Krista’s mom.  It was a very sweet, emotional remembrance.

Someone was extremely excited to get down the aisle!

In place of a traditional unity candle or sand ceremony, Krista and Brett decided to make an art piece for their unity ceremony.  It was a really neat idea, and came out really cool.

The views at Lionscrest Manor are truly amazing.  It’s a very popular Colorado venue, and it’s very clear why.

Colorado Rose Cake Company did an amazing job, as always.  The cake looked beautiful in it’s simplicity, but then as you walk around it, you found the hidden surprise…a little hockey player!  It was such a neat detail, and really represented the couple.

Continuing with the sports theme, the couple’s escort cards were personalized tickets.  The guests picked up their tickets at will call, just like they would at a sporting event.

Lionscrest had recently started offering a s’mores bar.  Guests loved it!  It looked so yummy, especially with the option of a Reese’s peanut butter cup or Kit Kat in place of a standard chocolate bar.

During the reception Brett’s family introduced Krista to one of their traditions.  They were all balancing spoons on their noses.  It was absolutely hilarious…spoons were falling all over the dance floor!  I am guessing I won’t see this at another wedding anytime soon, but I think it should become a reception tradition…bouquet toss, cake smash, spoon balancing 🙂

A good time was had by guests of all ages!

Thank you so much Krista and Brett for allowing me to photograph your big day!  You guys were one of the kindest and most gracious couples I have ever worked with.  I hope life in Canada treats you well, and that you have a ton of spoon balancing, hockey watching fun for years to come 🙂

xoxo,
Melissa
