Meet Christie & Michael! They are getting married in less than 2 months at Valley Country Club. I have not shot there before, and I always enjoy checking out and shooting at different venues, so I am looking forward to it 🙂 We went to Mount Falcon Park for their Colorado mountain engagement photos. This is a really big park, and one side is accessible from Morrison, and features red rock formations. I shot some engagement photos there a few years ago (and will actually eventually be sharing that post in my “From the Archives” series). The other side is way higher up and is accessible through Indian Hills. This features expansive views of both the mountains, and the city of Denver way down below, as well as the stone remains of “Walker’s Castle”. For Christie and Michael’s session we went to the latter location, since I had not been there and really wanted to photograph a session there. It did not disappoint! It was a beautiful location. Although it was quite sunny at some spots, and quite windy at others, the session turned out wonderfully. The lighting at the end was AMAZING…I wish it hung around longer 🙂
Since I had not been to this other side of the park before, I had not realized how far it really was from a city. When I arrived my car said I had “9 miles to empty”. I was a little worried, but I asked Siri for a gas station near me and she said 2.8 miles, so I figured I was fine. Christie and Michael were nice enough to follow me to make sure I didn’t run out of gas. It wasn’t my finest moment, but we all make mistakes, right (LOL)?! Anyway, the closest gas station turned out to really be about 9 miles away. Although my car said I was good for 9 miles, as some of you may know, that number drops QUICKLY at the end! I was driving on 0 miles to empty for quite some time and was stressing! Thank goodness we were traveling down the mountain, and I tried to touch the gas as little as possible. I made it into Morrison and filled her up, thanked them, apologized for the chaotic end to their shoot, and sent them on their way 🙂 Thanks so much for your understanding guys LOL! I feel a little better, because I brought them some champagne for their shoot…hopefully that makes up for the craziness!
Awww…I love this one!! How sweet 🙂
Mmmm…sometimes I love some sun flare!
Enjoy the last weeks of planning Christie and Michael!
xoxo,
Melissa
