Early in 2015, I traveled to Richmond, Virginia for the amazing workshop put on by Katelyn James Photography! Who would have thought I would leave sunny (but frigid) Colorado, and experience a snowy winter wedding workshop in Virginia of all places?! They definitely are not used to much snow there! To me, it was nothing, but almost everything was closed down, few people were comfortable driving…it was kind of crazy LOL! As they say though, the show must go on! The shooting portion of the workshop was planned outdoors, and for the most part they kept it out there. Our model couple was quite cold, but I think it was oh so worth it…especially with the gorgeous, lightly falling snow against the beautiful, blush gown!
I learned so much from Katelyn during this jam-packed weekend. She covered everything from social media to editing, shooting details to off camera flash. But the things that stuck out the most to me were creating core poses for my couples, blogging, creating a strong/consistent brand, and the importance of “building your tribe”. I worked to implement some of things in 2015, but still have a lot of work to do in 2016 to improve even more! I greatly admire Katelyn, and look forward to learning from her in the future. It was also fun to meet some great ladies from all over, and make some new friendships in the industry 🙂
That dress though <3 <3!!
These next two were my favorite from the entire winter wedding workshop experience!
Katelyn even took head shots for all of us…here are a couple of favorites. It’s hard to be on the other side of the camera! Here a few group shots as well, what a fun weekend 🙂 Thanks Katelyn and Michael!! I learned so much from you, and had a really wonderful time 🙂 Alyssa & Dustin’s Boulder wedding is hitting the blog next…so check back very soon!
