Today on the blog is the beautiful Alena! She started following me on Instagram after I photographed some of her classmates. After meeting in person and chatting about ourselves, it turns out we live in the same Firestone subdivision. What a small world, right? For Alena’s Frederick High senior photography session we met up at this little fall gem in Gunbarrel. One of my other clients had seen Gunbarrel recommended as a colorful location for fall foliage. A few years ago, I spent hours driving all around trying to find somewhere with good color there. I found this tiny spot near the Boulder Country Club, and I am sure glad about it 🙂
This is such a great location! It’s very convenient (only 20 or so minutes from my house), I will never have to worry about it being busy with other photographers, and it boasts a lot of variety in a small, easily walkable area. Aside from the fall foliage, there are two wooden bridges, a cool weeping willow tree, two small ponds, and a cute little bench. One of the ponds even appears to have turquoise water. Not sure what causes that, maybe blue-green algae?! No clue, but it looked pretty cool lol! This was my first time photographing at this location, but I hope it won’t be my last. I may end up hosting my fall mini sessions here at some point. Since I try to keep those close to Longmont, and am starting to run out of ideas for new places to shoot these!
Alena made some great outfit choices for her senior session. She started with a black top and belted burnt orange skirt…so cute! The color of the skirt complimented the fall foliage really nicely. Then, a white camisole type top with ripped black jeans. The clothing was flattering while standing and sitting (and even laying in the leaves), which is one of the criteria I typically give clients when picking out their clothes. Finally, she wore a stunning, delicate aqua dress. That complimented her tan skin so well and looked incredible in the sunny golden field. A lovely, very sweet, and gracious young lady, which it was a true honor to have in front of my lens!
This is definitely one of my favorites from Alena’s Frederick High senior photography session!
Thank you Alena, I hope you are doing well 🙂 Another colorful fall session is coming to the blog tomorrow. That one is Taylor and Cody’s sweet session in Breckenridge. Full of fun, a beautiful aspen grove, and epic mountain views! Check back soon…you don’t want to miss it!
