Here is the first of my 2020 weddings, before covid craziness reared it’s ugly head! Cynnamon and Sam’s wedding was unique in SO many ways! Firstly, the date…02/02/2020. Besides being Groundhog’s Day and Super Bowl Sunday, this was the first palindrome day in 909 years! That was largely why they picked the date. Cynnamon is a math teacher and so I guess you could say she has a thing for numbers 🙂 Their Cheyenne Mountain Resort wedding ceremony was also planned to begin at 2:02 pm. Super unique, right? This was also a new venue for me. That’s always really fun to check out new spaces, it allows me to get even more creative than I perhaps would at a venue I have shot at 20 times. Fresh eyes are an amazing thing!
Other unique elements of their wedding included an ultra intimate ceremony on the balcony of a hotel room, the buffalo plaid wedding details, and the unseasonably warm weather for February. Which I know they were a little bummed about!
Cynnamon and Sam dreamed of a snowy winter wedding, but it was in the 50s and very sunny. The photos could have been from summer, by the looks of them!
The photos still turned out beautifully though. Of course, snow was in the forecast for the very next day. Agh, crazy Colorado weather is always keeping us on our toes!
Some of my favorite moments from their wedding day were them including their dogs. How cute are those bowties? Also, Sam’s dad being their officiant made their ceremony so special and personal. The sweet first dance on the deck overlooking the beautiful Rocky Mountains was pretty epic. Finally, Cynnamon’s gift to her dad was pretty legendary 😉 It was a tie clip and on it she wrote “Suit Up. Because today is going to be legen-wait for it-dary!”. This may not mean much to you, unless you are a fan of “How I Met Your Mother”. We are HUGE fans around here (we fall asleep to this on repeat and probably have seen all 9 seasons a dozen times). Needless to say, I LOVED this and thought it was so adorable!
I didn’t have much space to move around on this hotel room balcony, but we still got some great stuff 🙂
This is one of my favorites from their Cheyenne Mountain Resort wedding!
Thank you Cynnamon and Sam! I had a wonderful time photographing your sweet, intimate wedding day. It was a unique and memorable day, that kicked off a crazy, whirlwind year! I am sure having your first year of marriage be during a pandemic wasn’t always the easiest. Hopefully you still shared many happy moments together and grew even closer this past year. I truly hope our paths cross again someday. Cheers to a lifetime of wedded bliss 🙂
