Toth/Tabert Family | Breckenridge Winter Family Photos | Colorado Mountain Photographer

I have known Maggie for a very long time. We both graduated from Longmont High School in 2000. I have captured their family photos a few times before, but this was the first time her brother and his family joined in. Her brother graduated with my older sister, so I sort of knew him too. For these Breckenridge winter family photos, we first met up at Sapphire Point. Wintertime is always so unpredictable, especially at these high elevations. But what a gorgeous afternoon! Super sunny, the mountains showing off with their vibrant blues and purples, and mild December temps. We couldn’t have asked for better weather. We got a ton of great shots at Sapphire Point, including the overlook itself. Then we headed out to downtown Breckenridge in order to get them some great variety in their portraits.

These families were renting a house in the heart of Breckenridge. We met there, some folks added jackets and cute cold weather accessories, and then we departed for location number two. Since their rental house was conveniently located downtown, we decided to just walk the few blocks to the river area in Breckenridge, which also had some nice Christmas lights up for the holiday season. Sunset was approaching so we had to move a little bit quickly. We didn’t want it to get too dark. But we also wanted to capture a little bit of sunset color, as well as have it late enough that the Christmas lights were actually on and could be captured in the photos. It was of course a little bit busy downtown, but we managed to get some really great stuff there too! Talk about variety! We got everything from sunny, golden hour mountain portraits to cozy, sunset shots amongst the glowing, festive holiday lights. The kiddos were so cooperative and happy…it was a really good day!

This is definitely one of my favorites of their Breckenridge winter family photos! Don’t get me wrong, I love a lot of the ones with the kids. But this spot looks like it could be straight out of a Hallmark movie. Am I right?!
