Well, I sure haven’t maintained the rapid blogging pace of January and February. But slowly chugging along nonetheless! For the first blog post of this new week I am sharing Emily and Tyler’s Lodge at Breckenridge wedding photos. These two have both worked with my husband in biotech for several years. Tyler and my husband still currently work at the same company. So that is how they learned about my business many years ago. I was so very glad that they selected me as their Colorado mountain wedding photographer. They were also happy to hear that I had shot at their venue a few times before, so I was familiar with how things work and flow at this location. As well as some great spots for photos! But they actually found a new spot for me to utilize again in the future, so that was awesome! This spot was actually off-site, but very close to the venue. This was nice because we didn’t have to drive way up Boreas Pass like we were initially thinking.
The most memorable part of Emily and Tyler’s wedding day was probably the weather! It definitely kept us on our toes the entire day. They handled it very well though, they weren’t going to let some rain and wind ruin their day. We were extremely grateful though that we had really nice weather for their couple’s portraits, and for all of the family photos after the ceremony. The first bit of the storm came when we were off-site doing the wedding party photos. We got a couple group shots, and then the rain started to fall. We hung out near the cars with umbrellas for awhile, but it just wasn’t letting up. Then we decided to head back to the venue and hoped that the storm would pass quickly. It did and we continued the wedding party photos on the deck at the lodge.
The weather was beautiful again and the outdoor ceremony on the deck began!
About halfway through the ceremony the weather did a complete 180 though. The rain started to fall again, and the wind got crazy. It was quite a sight with bridesmaids’ dresses and hair flying all over the place, and umbrellas folding up the wrong direction from the force of the wind. They quickly let the officiant know they planned to move the ceremony indoors. So there was a brief “intermission” and we all moved into the reception space. Guests lined the walls around the room, and the couple and their attendants stood along the dance floor. It may not be exactly as they imagined, but they were officially married, and that’s what mattered! Of course the weather completely cleared up immediately as the ceremony finished. Crazy Colorado weather!
Some other parts of Emily and Tyler’s wedding that I really loved was how they incorporated their beloved dog into their special day. What a cute ring bearer! Also, their wedding vows were some of the best I have ever heard. They wrote their own words, and they were beautifully done and very heartfelt. I really loved their creative wedding favors too. Those were copper mugs, perfect for Moscow mules. Since my husband and I were also invited guests, I got to take a couple of these home…we even used them the other night! Finally, their dance floor was a packed, sweaty mob, in the very best way LOL! After a year of no lively dance floors because of covid, this was such a fun and entertaining reception. The night ended with a fun and colorful glow stick send off. As the guests waited for the couple to come out the doors and run through the glow stick “tunnel” they loudly sang the CU fight song. I am a CU alum myself, so that was pretty funny too. I definitely sang along!
This is definitely one of my favorites from Emily and Tyler’s Lodge at Breckenridge wedding photos. I just love those dramatic skies, great mountain views, and this beautiful couple!
Thank you again Emily and Tyler for trusting me to capture the most special day of your lives! It was a truly awesome day and I won’t soon forget it 🙂 Wishing you a beautiful lifetime of love and adventures together. Next up on the blog, even more Breckenridge goodness!
