I have only captured Colorado sand dunes maternity pictures twice…and they have both been totally epic! Awhile back I did Heather’s maternity session there. Well her friend Kayla saw the photos and really liked them. When Kayla was expecting her first baby she decided she too wanted to have a maternity session at the epic Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. Her husband Dan came along and we included him in a bunch of photos too. These two are just the sweetest! I am sure they will make amazing parents. They were so patient and understanding with my foot drop issue. They are both chiropractors and so they were well knowledgeable regarding my foot and lower back issues at the time.
Kayla brought along four outfits for her maternity session. Well more like three main outfits, with a few quick photos in her final dress (per her wishes). The first outfit was a pale peach, lace dress. Such a soft, pretty color that went so well against the warm, golden dunes. Next, she wore a simple white dress. It sat off her shoulders and was a timeless selection. The third outfit was my personal favorite. This was a fitted mermaid maternity dress in a vibrant emerald green color. Kayla looked stunning…what a show-stopping dress! We ended up getting a whole lot of images in that one. Finally, just as the sun was setting and the sky was filling with color she decided on one final outfit. This time was another white dress. This dress was short sleeved, with unique, lace detailing.
This is one of my favorites of these Colorado sand dunes maternity pictures. That dress!! Am I right? The views aren’t too bad either.
Kayla and Dan, it was such a pleasure working with you guys. I hope parenthood is going great so far! I am not sure I could ever get sick of shooting at the sand dunes. It’s such a unique and epic location. Too bad it’s such a trek from Firestone. But it always makes a good excuse to hit the road with my little family for a weekend adventure. What’s up on the blog next? Beautiful Alondra’s senior pictures at Golden Ponds in Longmont.
