Here it is…my last wedding of 2022! This was just a couple weeks after my back surgery, so I was just a touch nervous to get “back” into it LOL. But I had a wonderful second shooter, Maria, along. I fully trust her and knew she could assist me in anyway that I needed. It all went super well though! Was definitely in some pain, but this wonderful couple made it so worth it. I loved capturing these Estes Park Resort wedding photos for Katie and Nick. They were visiting from Iowa, and having the mountain destination wedding of their dreams. Well, they probably didn’t dream of the crazy wind! But they sure weren’t going to let that ruin their most special day.
Aside from the awesome couple and their amazing guests, there was a lot to love about Katie and Nick’s wedding. The couple did a sweet first look next to Lake Estes. But after that they actually had a private ceremony where they read their vows privately, just the two of them. That was such a wonderful, emotional part of the day. I only remember one other couple of mine doing a private vow reading like this in all the years doing this. So pretty unique for sure! I also loved the unity ceremony during their full wedding ceremony. That was a tree planting ceremony, where they each watered this plant. Such a nice touch! Another funny, memorable part of their ceremony is when one of the local high school track teams ran on the trail behind their ceremony. Maybe a distraction for a moment, but it was kind of humorous.

This is definitely one of my favorites from their Estes Park Resort wedding photos. Katie had loved all of the dramatic veil photos I had similar to this. But without a veil, we made it work with her long train. I just love it…so romantic!

Katie and Nick’s wedding reception was sure a lot of fun! Aside from your traditional reception events, they also did some unique games for guests to enjoy. The first was the shoe game. Which I have seen numerous times. The DJ says something like “who is the better driver?” and the couple holds up the shoe representing which of them (Katie or Nick) best answers that question. Guests love this…always lots of laughs! The game I have not seen is where Nick was blindfolded and had to go through a line of people, feeling their faces and their hands to try and see if he could identify his bride this way. He got it right! It sure was entertaining to watch this one 🙂

They were such troopers climbing up on this giant boulder. This is another favorite from their wedding day, because it’s pretty unique. I love the natural movement in Katie’s dress. I guess the wind wasn’t ALL bad!

Katie and Nick…what an amazing end to my wedding season! You guys were the best. I loved working together to capture your beautiful Estes Park Resort wedding.
