Meet Elijah! Today I am sharing his class of 2025 Boulder senior portrait session. On this day I also captured his twin sister’s senior photos. I will share those very soon too! They both love basketball, and so we started the session with some basketball senior photos. I always love incorporating my clients’ interests and hobbies into their sessions. This makes things much more personal and special! I did a lot of googling trying to find a basketball court that we could use, and that was relatively close to South Mesa Trail, where we did the bulk of the photo session. I found Burke Park/Horizons K-8 School. It had numerous basketball hoops and even offered some flatirons views! It worked extremely well for Elijah’s photos.
Elijah wore three different outfits during his senior portraits. He started very casual, which fit extremely well with the basketball images. For those he wore jeans and a tan hoodie. After he showed off some of his basketball skills, we headed over to South Mesa Trail. At South Mesa Elijah incorporated another of his hobbies, his guitar. Him sitting in a mountain field, strumming the guitar are definitely some of my favorite images from the evening. His first outfit at South Mesa was a light blue, button-down shirt. He paired that with dark jeans, and then with tan pants. His final outfit was a black button-down with a chevron pattern and light jeans.
While Elijah may not love having his photos taken (no surprise there, most senior guys do not love being there!), he was very cooperative and has a very natural smile. We got so much great variety during his session. Basketball photos, mountain views, the cool stone building and wooden bridge, open fields, and photos near the river. We waited until sunset and hoped we would get some great color. Unfortunately, the skies did not cooperate, we didn’t get any epic color. We couldn’t complain about a very thorough and successful session though!

This is one of my favorites from Elijah’s Boulder senior portrait session. The light in that golden field is so beautiful. And I just love the candid moment of him peacefully strumming his guitar.

Thanks so much Elijah. You are a great young man. I am glad to have met and photographed you. I hope your senior year is an unforgettable one, full of fun and memories. Next on the blog, the Larsen family again. This time their fall family photos plus little Andrew’s first birthday cake smash session. Those are absolutely adorable…check back soon!
