Happy March! Today on the blog, the beautiful Showalter family. I have known these guys for a long time. The parents and I went to high school together, although I knew Jessica a lot better than Nate. And I have also captured their engagement and wedding photos, as well as multiple maternity and family sessions. We went to the Evergreen Lake House and the Evergreen Golf Course for their sunny and snowy Evergreen family pictures. Since fall in the Colorado high country can be very unpredictable, we lucked out with amazing weather. It was sunny and pretty mild, with some snow still on the ground to bring in some winter vibes for their Christmas card photos. Thankfully no major wind, which always seems to be an issue this time of year!
These guys live up near Lookout Mountain. So they wanted a location that would be relatively close and didn’t require a paid permit. We decided on the Evergreen Lake area, and it worked out well. We got a ton of variety during their session! Candid, action shots, and lots of smiling at the camera shots too. We got just about every possible arrangement possible with this family of five. Individuals of the kids, couple’s portraits of Jessica and Nate, sibling shots, full group shots and even the ladies and the fellas. These kids have grown an insane amount since my last session with them. Actually we were supposed to do this session close to a year and a half before we did. But life happened, then they had a devastating death in the family, we postponed until things calmed down a bit.
We got a ton of photos on the docks and bridges around Evergreen Lake and with the mountain views. We didn’t go out on the lake, as it was too early in the year and it wasn’t frozen solid yet. Needing a few more location options, and since it’s way too snowy for golf, we captured some great stuff out on the golf course too. I like the mountain views by the golf course. It also offers a bunch of pine trees, and we lucked out with some pastel sunset skies. I guess Jessica enjoys golfing that course, so that made it a little more personal too.

This is definitely one of my favorites from the Showalter’s Evergreen family pictures. Love that soft, golden sky and those sweet smiles.

Thanks Showalter family. It was so great to catch up with you guys and photograph your adorable family. I hope you love the photos as much as I do. Let’s not way so long in between sessions next time 😉 Next on the blog, Shaylee’s Rocky Mountain National Park senior session. It was crazy windy, but we managed to get a ton of great stuff. Have a beautiful day!
