Kendall & Matt had an energetic, eclectic, and beautifully-detailed, 1920s themed wedding in Denver. This was definitely one of the most unique and personal weddings I have ever been to, and I loved every minute of it! I have known Kendall since high school, we use to dance together. I was so honored to share in her and Matt’s big day. Thank goodness for Facebook! It has helped me reconnect with so many old friends, and has (honestly) brought me the majority of my business. This was the case with Kendall and Matt. They were looking for a photographer, and knew through Facebook that I was a photographer these days. It was a great match, they were amazing to work with. All of their families, bridal party members, and guests were so gracious to me and my team as well.
The girls got ready at The Curtis Hotel. I love the hotel’s eclectic decor, every floor has a different theme. I had so much fun taking the dresses, shoes, and accessories all over the hotel to get a ton of creative detail shots. I skipped right over the horror movie floor…I don’t know, it didn’t “scream” wedding to me. Get it? “Scream”…horror movie floor, haha!
Newspaper from their wedding day!
Matt and his guys started out their day at the Proper Barbershop, for shaves and hair cuts. This was a really cool idea, the guys need pampering too. Hmm…what’s a manly word for “pampering”? Grooming! The groom and groomsmen need grooming too 😉
Have I mentioned that I love when couples choose to do a “first look”? It’s always such a sweet, private moment between the couple. Often it is the only alone time the two will have the entire wedding day.
And then it was ceremony time! City Hall Events was a really neat place for a wedding. They mostly do concerts, but it really is a cool, expansive space and worked extremely well for the wedding. The elevated stage area allowed all of the wedding guests to see the entire ceremony very easily. The balconies allowed us photographers and the videographers to get many different views/angles and not get into each other’s way.
Guests were dressed to the 9’s in their 1920’s attire! I really should have pulled out an old flapper dress from back in my dance days to photograph the day in 😉
Kendall was clearly BEAMING while coming down the aisle! She was a stunning bride, and enjoyed every minute of the day.
Aww, the groom’s reaction to seeing his bride coming down the aisle…I live for this shot! I love the variety in emotion and expression between each groom. The one consistency is joy!
I love shooting through stuff! There was a “curtain” of vibrant cardstock circles, that later served as the dessert table backdrop. I love how this came out.
Kendall and Matt did a Spanish cord binding covenant during their vows and ring exchange. It was beautiful and touching!
Kendall & Matt chose a large canvas of the photo below. They had confetti shot from the balconies as they were walking back down the aisle as man and wife. It was unexpected and everyone loved it!
We headed back out for some more photos. Photography was a very important element of their wedding day and I was absolutely overjoyed with the amount of time we had for photos! This almost never happens! Future brides, take notes from Kendall 😉 The photos were relaxed and dare I say…FUN?!
This was one of Kendall’s “must have” shots, I love the way it turned out!
Their 1920s wedding wouldn’t have been complete without a red carpet!
I loved the variety of the centerpieces…all unique, all beautiful!
The dessert table looked gorgeous and super yummy! There were so many flavors of cupcakes, bars, and macarons…there was definitely something for everyone.
Kendall & Matt did a choreographed Sevillanas dance for their first dance. They did an incredible job! I had no doubt Kendall would nail the routine, but I am always super impressed when groom’s master a dance routine. Matt was amazing!
And then the band started and everyone packed onto the dance floor. It was an amazing party, to end an amazing day!
May you two always laugh together and love deeply through this dance of life!
xoxo,
Melissa
