Megan and Eric had a beautiful and memorable Arapahoe Basin wedding in 2015. This was by far my rainiest wedding of the year, but they handled it so well, it definitely didn’t ruin their day! If rain is good luck, as they say, then these two were blessed with a lot 🙂 I am so thankful they scheduled a first look, and all of their couple’s portraits, bridal party and family portraits, before the ceremony. The rain held off until the late afternoon at least, and we were able to capture the beauty of the A-basin resort in their photos, as well as a little time over in Keystone. Megan and Eric are the sweetest, most laid back couple I have worked with in a long time. They love the mountains, and their dog, Clyde, is their baby! He was their honorary ring bearer, and of course we had to incorporate him into a lot of their photos. All of their guests rode up the chairlift, sporting rain ponchos and huge smiles, to the top of the mountain. They all seemed to have fun with it, and they partied the night away! The dance floor was never empty, with kiddos and older guests alike. It was not uncommon for people to be spinning on the floor, and jumping in the air, simultaneously.
Megan made a beautiful Colorado mountain bride! She rocked a short, simplistic wedding dress, with a beautiful floral sash. She completed her look with some lacy cowboy boots, and a pretty hair flower. Her wedding attire made it very easy to move around, and didn’t limit our portraits at all. No need to worry about a long dress train getting into the stream, or a fitted gown that makes sitting nearly impossible. Eric looked very handsome too, in a blue vest, tie and plaid shirt. Even Clyde had a special bowtie for the day!
And then it was first look time! I know we were all so glad they decided to do a first look, and scheduled all of their portrait time before the ceremony. Because it rained cats and dogs almost the rest of the day!
Their guests were all such troopers, and in great spirits 🙂 My assistant photographers captured everyone coming up the chairlift as an unconventional photo booth of sorts. It certainly made for a memorable experience!
They postponed the ceremony, enjoyed a pre-ceremony happy hour with their guests, in hopes that the rainy weather would pass. Eventually they decided to go ahead with the ceremony indoors, about 2/3 of the way through it cleared and a rainbow came out. It was still a lovely, personalized, professionally written ceremony…there were few dry eyes in the house 🙂
At least all of that rain brought a beautiful double rainbow 🙂
Although the rain didn’t allow for a lap around on the chairlift, we still had to get them on there for a few minutes before it got too dark, at their Arapahoe Basin wedding.
