Kayla was one of the subjects for a group shootout at Standley Lake this past summer. We lucked out with an epic sunset for her Westminster senior photos. The weather definitely kept us on our toes throughout. The rain managed to (mostly) stay away until the very end. And then it was a total downpour. As well as some insane hail on my drive home. There were numerous houses in my Firestone development that got their roofs replaced after this hail storm. So glad it didn’t ruin our shoot, or our roof!
I had never shot at Standley Lake before, and it was definitely a great location. Especially in the summer, and with a senior client that is brave enough to get in the water. I love how this lake has views of the mountains, off in the distance, and it really looks like an actual ocean beach. I think because of the cliffs here, it reminds me a little bit of a beach in Santa Barbara where I did my “cousin-in-laws” senior portraits. Click here to check those out too! Or it kind of reminds me of Oregon a little bit too. Maybe I am reaching too much LOL! We just sure don’t have beaches here…so I take what I can get 
Kyla’s dress went perfectly with these Indian Paintbrush flowers (at least that is what my mom guessed they were…let me know if we are wrong!).
