My 400th blog post…wowza!! And how perfect that it’s a family that is very special to me…my twin sister and her family?! I have photographed them many times over the years (no surprise there). This time, though, we changed things up and did a night shoot for their holiday cards. I had driven by the Chapungu Sculpture Garden (behind the Centerra Shopping Center) after doing some holiday shopping, and thought it would be a cool place for a nighttime photo shoot. They liked the idea too! So we met over there for their Loveland Colorado family pictures in late November.
It was definitely not a warm evening, and I had little munchkin man along. I cannot believe how well he did sitting in his wagon the entire time! He is not exactly a patient toddler 😉 Needless to say, the session was more of a mini session. We got some really great stuff, and I loved seeing the images on their annual Christmas card. They also made a nice canvas of the kiddos, and it’s in the stairwell of their house, so I get to see it often! I always love when clients print and display their images in their homes. In fact, I just read an article that talked about how seeing themselves in family photos in the home, boosts children’s self-esteem. It makes them feel like they are a vital part of the family unit.
My beautiful niece Bryanna, and nephew Bennett. This is one of my favorites from their Loveland Colorado family pictures.
Do you love these as much as I do? Should I offer nighttime holiday lights mini sessions this year? I have considered doing so for the past couple years. There are just obviously more challenges with a night session, with setting up off-camera flash on stands at every stop during a session. Off-camera flash takes a bit more time dialing in settings, and ensuring flashes are firing every time, etc.
Oh man, I sure hope I never get this behind in blogging again! This is blog post #55 since the beginning of the year. I have to admit, I am pretty darn sick of blogging right now :/ But I still have about 20 sessions/weddings to share. At least my busy season doesn’t start until July this year, so hopefully it can be done! I am sure my schedule will book up, but surprisingly, I don’t have any June weddings on the calendar. That’s often one of the busiest wedding months in Colorado. Hopefully I will book a bunch of couple’s sessions, senior portraits and family photography sessions to fill my June calendar! Hint, hint…contact me now and let’s set up your session 🙂
