It’s a bit interesting how this shoot came to be. This spring I was supposed to go to a group maternity shoot at City Park in Denver with several other photographers. I was super swamped with work. And since spring took FOR-EV-ER to arrive, there were no blooming trees. Even though I had already paid for the shoot, I decided stay home and get some work done instead. It was a bummer. It was the right decision, however, since I don’t *really* need the images for my portfolio at this point in my career. The day after the shoot, a photographer friend, Chelsea, planned to take two of the mamas to the Paint Mines for some additional maternity pictures. I decided to make the long drive, and join her! These were surprisingly the first Paint Mines Colorado photos I ever had the chance to shoot.
I have wanted to make the trip to the Paint Mines Interpretive Park ever since I learned of it’s existence. In recent years, it has become extremely popular with Colorado photographers. That’s largely thanks to social media! This little archeological gem, has many similarities to the Wheeler Geologic Area. Where I did my amazing styled elopement session last year You can check that out HERE if you missed it. Although the Paint Mines is nowhere near as far as Wheeler, it’s still quite a haul. And we probably should have started about an hour earlier than we did. We were losing light pretty quickly after making the hike down to the mines. We made it work though, no doubt! It did require we work rather quickly, and part of our hike back to the cars was in the dark (guided by the lights of our cell phones).
Can we talk about how gorgeous Amy looked in this form fitting maternity gown? And the black POPS against the rock formations!
It’s hard to pick just one favorite from Amy’s session…but this one is definitely up there! I am typically drawn to more colorful shots, but there is just something about this one 🙂
Amy looked equally amazing in this long purple maternity gown! I also wore this one during my 2017 maternity portraits. This is one of the several dresses in Plum Pretty Photography’s client closet…available to all clients that want to borrow it.
Thanks for stopping by the blog, and checking out Plum Pretty Photography’s 2019 work. If you are needing to schedule your own Colorado maternity portraits, let’s chat soon. I love capturing photos from this very special time in life. It’s so hard to believe it’s already been 3 years since I was planning my own maternity portraits. Time sure flies!
Coming to the blog next, the first class of 2020 senior session with beautiful miss Mia. Mia is the granddaughter of Louise, the owner of Dance Dimensions in Longmont. So even more so than me, Mia has grown up at the dance studio. We took a few photos with her pointe shoes too…I hope you will check back!
Wow, we are officially less than 2 weeks until Christmas, are you ready? I am definitely not. We are always big procrastinators around here. I have purchased a couple little gifts, but I still have a lot to do. As least we are not hosting family this year, so I don’t need to clean my house on top of everything else 😉
