Meet the Sens family! I had the pleasure of photographing them last summer while they were visiting from Ohio. This was such a memorable shoot…keep reading to see why. For these Estes Park family portraits we visited two very popular lakes in Rocky Mountain National Park. First, we headed to Sprague Lake. My personal favorite! The rain had us a little worried earlier in the day, but it ended up being a great evening. We started out witnessing a colorful, vibrant rainbow, as well as a bunch of elk…what a fun Colorado experience!
Ashley does some photography too, so that always puts the pressure on a bit 😉 She was so easy to work with though. Really, they were all so great. It’s often tough with little kids, you never know what kind of mood they will be in. Connor and Ivy were absolutely wonderful! They are photogenic and made my job so easy. I wish every shoot with kids could go this smoothly!
After spending a good amount of time at Sprague Lake, we drove up the road to Bear Lake too. The Sens family made a quick outfit change, which is always great to add some variety to your family session. We basically had Bear Lake to ourselves…which is quite rare as it’s definitely a RMNP hot spot!
This is definitely one of my favorites from their Estes Park family portraits. What a couple of cuties!
Ahhh…how cute are they?!
The shoot was a wrap, and time to head home…or so I thought. Just as I pulled onto the highway outside of the National Park, an Estes Park police officer was there to pull me over 🙁 Headlight out, and I didn’t know it. It was totally embarrassing seeing the Sens family drive past me on the side of the road, pulled over. Oy! It took absolutely forever for the cop to let me go. He asked me so many questions, and EVEN made me show him the photography permit that is required for RMNP. Which was so strange because the Estes Park police department doesn’t have anything to do with the national park enforcement. Anyway, he finally lets me go with a warning. I continued my hour drive home. Then, when just 10 minutes from home, between Longmont and Firestone, I suddenly see police lights behind me again. COME ON….pulled over AGAIN!! I just want to get home 🙁 He let me go with a warning, as well. I finally make it home, and a glass of wine is definitely in order lol. What a day, I won’t soon forget.
Thank you Sens family for supporting my little business! I had a wonderful time working with you all. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Colorado. Hopefully you are remaining safe and healthy during this crazy, scary quarantine time. Be well all, and enjoy your weekend!
