I have known Tristan since he was in elementary school, when I captured his mom and stepdad’s engagement and wedding photos. I have also photographed family photos for them a couple times in recent years. He’s definitely grown into a nice young man…with quite the head of curly red hair! The bulk of this session was Denver Colorado urban senior photos. But since we were all coming from Firestone, we stopped for a couple quick shots at this giant tree that Tristan’s mom knew about. I am embarrassed to admit how many times I have probably driven by this tree in the 5 years I have lived here and never really noticed it! Such a great spot…minus the insane amount of bees! So glad he didn’t get stung.
Honestly most guys don’t get super into their senior session. Tristan was a bit different! 4 locations, 6 outfits, photos during daylight and the night, with a dinner break in between. We even incorporated his skate board for some action shots. The RINO district is where we captured the majority of these images. It’s not surprising that this is such a popular location with teens. It is full of vibrant, colorful murals and graffiti…there’s something for everyone’s style and vibe!
This is definitely a favorite from Tristan’s Colorado urban senior photos. I am bummed this wall doesn’t look the same anymore. But that’s just how it goes in the RINO art district, I suppose!
Something unique about Tristan’s session was the fact that we ended with some ultra cool nighttime shots. I think these turned out amazing, but it was honestly a bit terrifying getting these photos. I had suggested Civic Center Park as it’s really pretty at night. Well homelessness has gotten really bad in Denver over the years. We moved along quickly because we felt pretty unsafe at times. It was very sad to witness this in a formerly safe area. As we were heading back to our vehicle we were suddenly smelling/tasting pepper spray and hearing police vehicles nearby. We got the heck out of there! Turns out there were rioters nearby starting fires and breaking windows (article). Not to say you can’t safely shoot in Denver, but there will just be fewer places I recommend these days (especially at night).
Thanks Tristan, your session was sure a memorable one! I hope post high school adult life is treating you well 😊 Wondering what’s coming to the blog tomorrow? Jessica and Lucas’ sweet and sunny Chautauqua wedding. Head on back then!
