Abbie – Class of 2022 | Colorado Mountain Senior Photographer | Brainard Lake

Years ago I was really focusing on growing the high school senior side of my business. I selected 8 girls from local high schools to be on my first (and only) senior rep team. Abbie’s sister, Holly, was the young lady I selected to represent Skyline High School on my team. I absolutely loved working with Holly numerous times before and during her senior year. So naturally I was thrilled to hear from Abbie as well. Being her Colorado mountain senior photographer up at Brainard Lake was so much fun! We also timed it well and there was peak fall foliage in some areas of the park.

I chose not to continue the senior rep program after the class of 2019 year, as it was a ton of extra work. At first I did not think it had been worthwhile for my business, as I didn’t book that many senior sessions that season directly through these representatives. It definitely had a ripple effect though! I started booking more senior sessions the next season, and even more the next. In the end, I totally think it was worthwhile, it just took some time. Plus I got a ton of beautiful portfolio and blog work to share.

Now back to the session at hand! Abbie was such a sweet young lady, and she was a natural in front of the camera. We seemed to get all 4 seasons during her session! Mild temperatures like a Colorado spring. Bright sunshine like a Colorado summer. The vibrant yellow foliage of fall, and some patches of snow amongst the trees reminded us that winter was on its way.

Abbie selected 5 outfits (plus her letterman jacket) for her session. First, a simple white tee and jeans. Next, she did a few quick shots in both her basketball and soccer jerseys. Then when we headed over to the lake itself and she put on a cute gingham dress and white Converse. The final outfit was my personal favorite, an aqua sweater and white jeans. She wore that at the lake, as well as amongst the colorful foliage of an aspen grove. So much great stuff!
