The Drummond, Gilmore and Smith families were all visiting the Colorado mountains together from Texas. This actually worked out wonderfully to do all three “mini sessions” on the same evening. Because we were fitting in so much during a normal portrait session time, we didn’t have a ton of time for a lot of candids. But I am thrilled with all of the images we captured together. As were all three families…yay! We did two nearby locations during these family portraits in Breckenridge. We started at Sapphire Point. After some great shots here with each of these three families, we headed down the road. Next we went to the open field during the entrance to the Windy Point Campground. Sapphire Point is iconic, but I do like also going to Windy Point because it allows for some action shots since it’s a much flatter field.
We were definitely getting a little worried about the rain. Since rescheduling just wouldn’t have worked. They were visiting from out-of-state, and it’s a nearly two hour drive each way. My schedule is always pretty packed this time of year too. Thankfully it held off for the majority of the session. We had to edit some raindrops off of clothing towards the end. But we were able to get everything in that we wanted to before the skies opened up!
Each of these families planned outfits for their own immediate family. They all looked so great! The Drummond family was the first four in front of my camera. They wore mostly neutrals and blues, with mom’s off-white dress and hair ribbon having a slightly boho look. The Gilmore family was probably the dressiest of the bunch. Dad wore a nice sage green suit jacket…but had to keep it Texas 😉 He paired that with jeans and a cowboy hat. Mom looked beautiful in a floral dress. I loved the matching headbands on three of them. The oldest and the baby of the family were pretty in pink, complete with ruffled shoulders. Their middle daughter wore an adorable denim jumpsuit. The Smith family boys wore nice pants, and a blue button down shirt. Mama and baby wore beautiful dresses in varying shades of green. Great outfit choices all around!

I definitely have favorites from each individual family too. But I did want to highlight my favorite group photo from these family portraits in Breckenridge. What a fun way to wrap three great mini sessions with a goofy group shot! This really made me want to do a friend group trip of my own. It looks like they have so much fun together 🙂

Thank you to the Drummond family, the Gilmore family, and the Smith family. You all were so much fun to work with, and really made my job easy! I hope you had an absolutely amazing vacation in the gorgeous Colorado mountains, full of fun and special memories. I also hope you love these photos and will cherish them for many years to come. Next on the blog, Grant’s senior session from Loveland’s Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park. I went to high school with his mom. Soon he will also be a Longmont High alumnus too. No, no, no…we can’t possibly be old enough for that, right?! Check back soon.
