Meet Grant! He is the son of one of my Longmont High School classmates, Katie. Although she is a year younger than me, we would fairly often be hanging at the same parties. His mom is such a cool person, we have a shared love for DIY home projects. Grant seems really cool himself. Like mother, like son! Grant also goes to Longmont High School. He will graduate 24 years after his mom did. That feels pretty unique these days, as it feels like everyone moves away. Longmont has grown so much that there are two more high schools than there was back in the early 2000s, so it’s even less likely that a Longmont resident would go to the same school that their parent did. Grant and Katie selected the Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park in Loveland for his Loveland Colorado senior portraits.
This location is such a cool place. I had heard about its existence years ago in a Facebook photography group. I am so glad that I finally used it for a session. Because now I have gone back again and again! I love the variety that the Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park offers. There are multiple bridges, beautiful river access, a funky metal sculpture, lots of trees, in a canyon with large rock formations, and even some old, rustic buildings. We lucked out with a truly gorgeous evening! The golden hour sunlight photographed beautifully, and complimented the lush, green trees so well.
Grant, like most guys his age, does not love having his photo taken. But he was a good sport, and at least extremely polite and cooperative. Not everyone is when they don’t want to be there! I try so hard to make the process as painless as possible. Grant wore three outfits for his senior session. He started in jeans, and a long sleeve green and white striped shirt. After he got adequately toasty during this July evening, he switched into a simple navy blue t-shirt. For a few final photos he put on a Brock Purdy 49ers jersey and a black baseball cap.

This is definitely one of my favorites from Grant’s Loveland Colorado senior portraits. I like this cluster of tree stumps, his nice, natural smile, and all of the lush greenery.

Grant, senior year starts tomorrow!! Enjoy your final year…it will fly right on by. Thanks for being a good sport and making your mama happy with these senior portraits. Next on the blog, Sarah and Scott’s Boulder engagement session at South Mesa Trail. Such a happy, joyful couple! Check back soon 🙂
