I am going to age myself here, but I have known Courtney since elementary school. We didn’t go to school together until middle school, but we both attended Dance Dimensions. She was also my freshmen roommate at Hallett Hall at CU Boulder. Like with a lot of relationships, life gets crazy and we don’t see each other often these days. We still keep in touch on social media thankfully. We also run into each other at restaurants or stores from time to time. I was thrilled to hear from her to set up her oldest daughter’s Holy Family High School senior photos. Since it had been a long time since they had family photos taken, they also added on a mini session. Soon I will share Jillian’s senior pictures too, but today I am bringing you their Loveland Colorado family portraits.
We met up at the Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park for their two-part session. The girls drove separate from their parents so their parents could head down to Denver for a wedding right after. We didn’t have a ton of time for the family photos, since the primary focus was Jillian. But I was absolutely thrilled with the variety we were able to capture in a short time. We got all the essential groupings…all four of them, sisters, parents, dad and daughters, mom and daughters, etc. We even re-created a sibling photo that I did for them probably about a decade ago! This was Jillian and Maddie sitting back-to-back on a bench. This was their idea, and I loved it.
At the end of the session Courtney even mentioned getting in the river. This is not something I usually ask of my clients, but when they offered that up, of course I would love it! I am always up for doing something different. They had some fun wading in the river and then splashing water into the air and toward the camera. That was a great way to end their session. But oops, nobody brought a towel to dry off their feet before having to put socks and shoes back on. Totally worth it!

This is one of my favorites from the Bickford’s Loveland Colorado family portraits. I love this gorgeous, sunny, river setting. As well as their nice, natural smiles. And of course, standing in the river makes it a little more unique!

Thanks so much Bickford family. It was so great to capture your beautiful family again! Let’s not wait a decade in between sessions again 😉 I can’t wait to share Jillian’s senior session here on the blog very soon. But up first, Addie’s two-day senior session. From Boulder to Mead, frolicking in flower field to splashing in a lake, we covered it all. This was probably the most photos I have ever captured for a high school senior session. Check back soon!
