Although these Fort Collins maternity photos may not have gone exactly as planned…it ended up being one of my favorite sessions of 2016! Winter can be a tricky time to plan a mountain photography session. There can be a blizzard, or no snow when we *really* want snow. On the first day of the Aguirres family’s photos, our issue was the crazy wind and frigid temps in Rocky Mountain National Park. It was such a bummer, because they drove from Wyoming for their session. We tried to make it work, we really did! But according to the clock on my camera, we lasted only 12 minutes! I did capture a few photos, but we went ahead and rescheduled for another afternoon. We were all so glad we did 🙂
For day two of their Colorado maternity and family photos we decided not to venture quite as far. We met up at Horsetooth Reservoir, for a beautiful, sunny afternoon session. The temps were still a little chilly, but no where near as low as our first attempt. Day two was not without a few hiccups of it’s own, however. We were using different GPS apps, and it took us about 40 minutes to find each other. There was also not great service around Horsetooth, so that added to our challenges. Lesson learned, meet clients in Fort Collins, and have them follow me to Rotary Park at Horsetooth 😉 We finally located each other (yay!), and still had lots of beautiful daylight. Even enough time to do all 4 of Kerra’s maternity outfits, as well as adding a blanket for a few cuddling photos.
Kerra bought a gorgeous burgundy maternity dress, and it looked amazing against the white snow and the blue mountains. Finally, we were blessed with a colorful, soft pink sunset, to end these Fort Collins maternity photos. What a fun afternoon with this sweet family, as they anticipated the arrival of their precious baby boy, Archie!
