Thanks to Kelly Erin Photography for having me along to photograph Ashley & Matt’s summer wedding. It was a sweet, family-centered event at the Chapel at Red Rocks. Which I guess is now closed for good. I hadn’t heard that prior to today. What a shame, it was a cute little spot, that had been hosting weddings since 1991! Thankfully couples can still get their Red Rocks wedding photos at various other places in the park and amphitheater. Like at the Trading Post, where Derek and I got married almost 9 years ago 🙂 Ashley and Matt chose this location, because that is also where her parents got married. Not only were they sharing a location, but they were also sharing a wedding date! How cool is that?
Ashley and Matt are the sweetest, goofiest couple. They literally laughed the ENTIRE day, it was such a joy to witness and photograph! The few moments they weren’t laughing and smiling, they were full of tears of joy. Their families were equally as emotional throughout the day. Matt and his mom were having a dance party in the guys’ getting room…it was hilarious! Then Matt’s brother got so very emotional during the ceremony. It was incredibly touching <3 After their moving ceremony, and some photos around the chapel, we headed into the park. We didn’t have a ton of time for their Red Rocks wedding photos, before driving to a secondary location. The time we did have, however, was magic! We got some beautiful shots of this adorable couple on a sunny, perfect Colorado day.
Their DIY, backyard wedding reception was held at Ashley’s parents’ house. They incorporated their yellow and blue wedding colors in their joyful sunflower centerpieces and chair sashes. Ashley & Matt really love sunflowers, if you can’t tell! They even gave away sunflowers seed packets as wedding favors. Guests enjoyed the yummy BBQ dinner, the hilarious toasts, and dancing the night away under the stars 🙂
Who said you need to wait for the reception to have a dance party?! I am pretty sure this was the most fun group ever during the getting ready photos.
This image just placed in the top 10% of photos in the recent Shoot and Share photography competition! The light hit the bubbles just right, and they made these amazingly colorful orbs. Love it!
Then we headed over to this little park. It may not look like much. But this park is so very important to Ashley and Matt…because that is where he proposed <3
Beautiful bride surrounded by purple wildflowers…swoon!!
