I have been so excited to share this session with you all…and will have 3 additional posts from this epic (albeit) long, grueling day at the Great Sand Dunes National Park. I had not been to the sand dunes since I was a little kid (7-years-old I would guess). The day we went, it was incredibly windy. If I remember right, we were going to leave. I was really upset by this, and wanted a photo with the dunes in the background. I am pretty sure just my dad and I went out, so that I could get my picture taken lol! My sister doesn’t remember any of this, so perhaps I am just making it up 😉 There are COUNTLESS amazing places for couple’s photos in Colorado. I hope this inspires some folks to adventure a bit, and consider a sand dunes Colorado engagement session. Plumprettyphoto@gmail.com is my contact info. Hint, hint…can’t wait to go back!! I don’t want it to be another 30 years this time.
This was a photographer’s “shoot out” that I was looking forward to for months. Since the sand dunes are quite a haul for me (most other photographers were from the Colorado Springs area), I got a hotel room in Alamosa. I convinced by twin to come along for the trip, so that made it much more fun. Although, she didn’t come out to the dunes, we still had a fun break from motherhood this weekend.
To say this day at the Great Sand Dunes National Park was epic would be a huge understatement!
Really, it couldn’t have gone any better. Oh wait…I guess there was one thing that was terrible. I had been fighting this horrendous cold, and was hacking like crazy the entire day. That was not pleasant, but so worth it for these incredible images 🙂 We dealt with some wind, that’s basically unavoidable there though. The rain had us worried, but it mostly held off…and we got some crazy cool skies as a result! Brittany and Eric were married in 2018, so they were very comfortable in front of the camera. There’s another understatement…they were complete pros in front of the camera. Wow, I am just so in love with these images.
While I love most of these images…this is definitely a favorite! Are you ready for your own sand dunes Colorado engagement portraits?!
I am just obsessed with all of the movement in this dress! It was perfect for the sand dunes 🙂
To see another of my adventure sessions (coincidentally, from the same general area of Colorado!), check out Katrina & Brian’s elopement shoot at the incredibly unique Wheeler Geologic Area in Creede.
Cannot believe it is almost July! Perhaps because summer took it’s sweet time to arrive, but it does not feel like it should be July already. It’s going to be quite the whirlwind of a month…12 weddings and portrait sessions, the 4th of July, my 9 year wedding anniversary, and my twin and I’s 37th birthday! I make no promises as to whether I will find a free moment to blog or not 😉 But next on the blog, Ariana’s funky senior session at Wonder Wonder Boulder. As well as another maternity session from the unique Paint Mines. Have the best July, friends!

[…] Brittany and Eric are super sweet (and totally adorable) newlyweds, that modeled for our shoot. They were total naturals in front of the camera. Even while having numerous cameras in their faces simultaneously! If you would like to see the first blog post with the engagement photography portion of my time with this couple, click HERE. […]
