I have been dying to share Sarah’s session with you all! These past few years I have been inspired to try to think outside the box and do some new things. That is where my styled shoot in Creede (see it HERE) originated from. Same with these Colorado winter senior portraits in Estes Park. I was trying to think of something different and unique to photograph during the “off season” this winter. Since skiing and snowboarding are so popular here in Colorado, I figured local teens may really like the idea of senior pictures incorporating these winter sports. I searched all over Google, Pinterest, and Instagram to see what was out there. There were a handful of snowboarding senior photos, but I could not really find many skiing sessions (especially with females).
A photographer friend of mine put me in contact with Sarah. She is actually signed with Wilhelmina Denver, so a complete natural in front of the camera. And stunning and sweet to boot! I had started following her on social media. Then, when I saw her post a photo from the ski resort, I just knew she was the right person to bring this vision to life 🙂 At the last minute I decided to bring along some colorful smoke bombs too. They are very trendy with photographers, but I have never used them before. I had bought some years ago, and they had been collecting dust in my garage. I am so glad that I decided to bring them along! They added a little bit of variety to the session…and a whole lot of color!
Seriously, this session was such a dream come true! Whether it persuades some students to capture winter senior pictures or not, I don’t care. It was fun to be creative, and Sarah was a delight to work with. It truly filled my cup! And can we talk about the beautiful snow falling?! It was perfect…light enough to not block her entire face, but enough snow to show up very well on camera. The snow was just the cherry on the top of a great winter session in the Colorado mountains. Others seemed to love these too. Some of the images were featured on the Senior Style Guide’s Instagram page.
Woo hoo…time to get out the ski gear for these most unique Colorado winter senior portraits!
Gah…how stinking cute is she?! I don’t look that good on my best day, let alone in ski attire 😉
Thank you, thank you Sarah! I hope you love these as much as I do 🙂 Don’t worry all, there is more Sarah coming to the blog soon enough. I just did another session with her last week. That one involved neon signs and glow-in-the-dark blacklight make-up. It was another successful creative, senior-inspired session.
For another of my favorite winter senior photography sessions, check out Holly’s Lake Lily session HERE. Coming to the blog next, a windy, (but completely amazing) session at the Great Sand Dunes National Park. I hope you enjoy your weekend…and will check back soon!
