New month, new blog post! January was a crazy busy month. Especially considering this is supposed to be my “off season”. I had several sessions in January, completed some home DIY projects, and had a lot of fun with my wild little one 😉 First up on the blog this month, Krystle and Matt. Their Mountain View Ranch wedding was a beautiful and emotional celebration of love and family!
I have known Krystle for years. She and my sister use to work together. She referred me to the Laughlin family, back when Justin and Michele were engaged. Krystle was a bridesmaid at their wedding. If you follow the blog, you may recognize the Laughlin’s as I have photographed them a ton of times over the years.
Years ago I photographed Rachel and Kevin’s big day at this gorgeous Pine, Colorado location. This was back before Wedgewood Weddings bought the property and renamed it. Whether Lower Lake Ranch, or Mountain View Ranch, this location is a picturesque Colorado mountain venue. I am excited to return here again this summer for Jessica and Dave’s amazing 7/20/20 wedding. Those 20/20 dates are sure popular this year (no surprise there)!
Some of my favorite parts of Krystle and Matt’s wedding day include all of the emotional moments with Krystle’s daughter, Kaylee. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house during the ceremony. Then, Kaylee’s toast during the reception was completely amazing! She was so confident, vulnerable, and well-spoken…truly impressive for such a young lady. I wouldn’t have done that good of a job at 37 lol! Also, some of their sweet, personalized touches and decor were great. Including the madlibs response cards (I actually did this at my wedding, and hadn’t seen anyone do that since!), the “can I get a witness?” ceremony sign, and the “one less fish in the sea” sign (because they met on Plenty of Fish). Krystle’s blush wedding dress was pretty amazing as well. What a great day!
All the emotions lol! Laughter and tears abound 🙂
This is definitely one of my favorites from their Mountain View Ranch wedding!
Snuck them out of the reception for a few moments when we spotted this AMAZING sunset through the windows…totally worth it!
As I mentioned before, I am going to give my wedding clients a post wedding questionnaire, so that these blog posts can be a bit more personal. This will also give you an idea about what couples loved or maybe would change about their own wedding days. Hopefully it will be informative!
What was your most anticipated part of the day?
Matt – Seeing Krystle walking down the aisle
Krystle – Celebrating our love with our family and friends and of course our photos!
Did anything unexpected happen? What was the outcome?
One strand of bistro lights were off and we got a free bar for all of our guests. The little boys did not get half of their outfits on (glasses, ties, ear piece, security badge) No one even noticed! The little things don’t always matter. The grooms party also did not put on the boutonnieres.
What ended up being your favorite part of the day?
Krystle – Matt got creative with his garter toss and pulled out all of the toys. (Dolls, sharks, sunglasses, rubber duckies) and Kaylee’s speech
Matt – The excitement leading up to and seeing Krystle walk down the aisle
What advice would you give to future couples for their wedding?
Don’t sweat the small things. The best result is getting married!
Were you nervous? How did you squash the nerves?
Honestly we were both so excited the day was finally there! A couple of beers helped!
What was the biggest surprise on your wedding day?
Krystle – My biggest surprise was Matt’s garter toss.
Matt – Krystle’s dress was more incredible than I could have imagined.
What inspired your wedding decor? Did you have a theme in mind?
We just wanted to make it us. Things we loved. We also used our venue and a country type theme because we like that style.
Tell me about some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them!
The two less fish in the sea was because we met on Plenty of Fish. The garland I scored on Christmas clearance and thought it matched our venue nicely. I feel like we kept our decor simple.
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
Our future – traveling together, growing old and being just us after the kids are gone!
Matt – Being tied to Krystle forever
Which part of your wedding did you want to WOW your guests?
We wanted our guest to see our love and our why at our ceremony.
What was the biggest challenge you faced in planning your wedding?
Being indecisive and picking a venue because there were so many options.
Did you go on a honeymoon? If so, tell me about it!
Yes, we went on an 8 day Carnival Cruise to St Maarten, St Kitts, Puerto Rico and Grand Turk followed by going up the coast to see FL, GA, SC and NC.
What did you like most about working with Plum Pretty Photography?
We loved that you had fun and laughed with us. We felt comfortable with you and knew we were getting your best work.
Thanks again Krystle and Matt…I had a wonderful time working with you guys! Wishing you a lifetime of wedded bliss 🙂 I hope these Mountain View Ranch wedding photos bring back the happiest of memories for many years to come. On the blog next, Joanna and Manny’s Winter Park engagement portraits, and Kaylee’s summer senior photos. Not Krystle’s daughter, Kaylee, a different young lady lol! Check back really soon!
