Michelle + Rob | Sand Dunes Colorado Portraits | CO Couples Photographer

January 8, 2022

Michelle and Rob really loved my blog images of Brittany & Eric from the Great Sand Dunes National Park. So much so that they decided to hire me and make the trek down there for their own Sand Dunes Colorado portraits. Since it’s quite a drive, we decided to make a day of it and shoot at a few other locations as well. My sister and her kids, and my kiddo came along, and so we had a quick mini vacation to Southern Colorado. We visited some hot springs, the quirky roadside alligator farm in Mosca. The day after my session with Michelle and Rob we also went back to the sand dunes so the kids could experience it and play for a little while.

Back to this epic photo shoot though! It seems I usually use that word when describing sand dunes sessions. But what can I say? The place is EPIC! We decided to start Michelle and Rob’s couple’s session in downtown Alamosa, where my family and I were staying. We took some shots with the very old train cars they have there, as well as some more urban type shots. Next, we stopped at the new campground where Michelle and Rob were staying. This is a unique spot, as it’s a bit more of “glamping” with these individual teepee tents for guests, complete with electricity and everything! The Rustic Rook Resort looked like a cool spot to “camp” close to the dunes.

After one more outfit change, we headed to the dunes. So glad we timed it so well and had a beautiful evening. Perfectly golden lighting during golden hour, which sure made me a happy photographer! It was windy, but that’s pretty much a given at this location. Michelle and Rob have been married a long time, and so they obviously have such chemistry and ease together. I did not have to give them all that much direction. They were naturals! And boy oh boy did we get a lot of photos! I hope they will still enjoy them for years to come. Can I just say how much I love that they booked this session with me?

It doesn’t matter if you have been married for one year, or fifty years and your children are grown. You can always justify having beautiful photos with the love of your life!

Walking through life forever…hand in hand! So sweet! Kind of makes me want to have my own photo shoot here too.

If you want to see even more Sand Dunes Colorado portraits, check back soon. I will be sharing Truc and Edgar’s engagement session in the coming weeks. You don’t want to miss those either! This session was the first of 4 recent Great Sand Dunes National Park sessions I have to share. People sure love this location…who can blame them though?!

Thanks again Michelle and Rob for supporting my small business. I had a wonderful time documenting your marriage during this season of life. I truly hope you love these images as much as I do 🙂
