Alicia + Nate | Fort Collins Engagement Portraits | CSU Flower Trial Garden

A colorful, flower-filled session seems fitting for my first (and probably last) blog post of summer. What can I say? I have been extremely busy. It won’t be letting up anytime soon. I just happen to get caught up on my editing today, but October has over 25 sessions in store for me. So this will be extremely short-lived. Anyway, today I bring you Alicia and Nate’s Fort Collins engagement portraits. They decided they wanted to do some of their photos at the CSU flower trial garden, since that is where they got engaged. I have actually shot at these gardens before, for Carly and Mark’s Fort Collins wedding. Check those out HERE!

If you follow my work, you will probably know that I love color! The CSU flower trial garden was bursting with every color of the rainbow. I sure loved it! We even found some small sunflowers. Alicia loves sunflowers and they planned to incorporate them into wedding day florals. After getting a ton of variety in the gardens, we headed out to Horsetooth Reservoir. Horsetooth is a great option for mountain and water views without having to drive far into the mountains. We got some beautiful golden hour and sunset lighting, and it was the perfect end to an awesome engagement shoot. We got a little toasty at times on this warm evening…but so worth it!

The image below is definitely one of my favorites from their engagement photography session. I love that romantic moment, amongst the rows of beautiful flowers.

Alicia and Nate kept their outfits very neutral for the gardens, which was great because there is so much color already in the gardens. This way, they didn’t clash with any of the flowers. With fewer colors at Horsetooth Reservoir Alicia wore a much more vibrant color. I loved this bold orange dress, it worked great at sunset over the mountains. Nate wore a nice, neutral button down shirt. The thing that looked best for their Fort Collins engagement portraits, however, was these bright, joyful smiles!
