Mackenzie + Adrian | Idaho Springs Couples Photos | Echo Lake Colorado

March 22, 2023

I have known Mackenzie since high school at Longmont High. We just reconnected a couple years ago on social media. I was thrilled when she reached out for updated photos with her husband, Adrian. I suggested several locations for their photo shoot. They decided on Echo Lake for their Idaho Springs couples photos. Since I was coming down from Thanksgiving in Winter Park and they live in Denver, this was a pretty good halfway point. They really wanted mountain scenery, and you sure get that at Echo Lake. Since it had been such a mild afternoon in Denver, they weren’t really prepared for the giant temperature drop as they drove into the mountains. Then it didn’t help that it was crazy windy at this location. You just never know what you are going to get in the Colorado mountains this time of year! Make that much of the year LOL!

Mackenzie was frigid in black jeans and a blue denim jacket, but she was a trooper. Plus, she looked really cute! The fun headband and ankle boots really completed the look beautifully. Adrian didn’t warm up enough to take off his green North Face coat, but at least it was a nice coat. I hope the photos were worth freezing their butts off for a bit! I was really happy with the way they turned out, especially with the windy conditions. We captured photos on and around the frozen lake, against the rustic, wooden fences, and amongst the snowy pine tree forest. These two hadn’t had professional photos taken since their wedding, but they are still total naturals. I love the mix of candid shots, romantic portraits, and sweet smiles.

This is definitely one of my favorites from Mackenzie and Adrian’s Idaho Springs couples photos. The “snow tornado” (as we named it) was not fun to be standing in front of, but it sure looks cool in the background!

Thanks again Mackenzie and Adrian. Mackenzie, it was really great to catch up…so glad you are doing so well! Great to meet Adrian too. Although, it was so windy it was hard to really chit chat a lot. We will have to do it again sometime 😉 What’s up next on the blog? Emma’s late fall senior session in Rocky Mountain National Park. See you back here soon!
