A few years ago I photographed Melissa’s sister’s wedding at Lionscrest Manor. I totally remembered the two of them, and was thrilled when I heard from Steve again. I met up with him at Crestmoor Park on a rainy afternoon for these Denver proposal photos. The two couples planned to play with the dog at a nearby park for awhile, and then have a dinner out in Cherry Creek.
When Melissa arrived Steve presented her with a tablet where he had put together a slideshow of photos throughout their relationship. As she was focusing on that, I moved closer and closer. She definitely knew something was happening once I was finally close enough and she could hear the camera shutter clicking away. When the slideshow ended, Steve took the ring out of his pocket and dropped down on one knee. She had a really great reaction, and of course said yes! He also presented her with a red rose and asked if she would accept this rose. Just like on The Bachelor.
It’s always such a relief when things come together so well, and when the surprise totally works!
The weather had me quite worried earlier in the day. It was absolutely pouring rain on my drive down south. There were multiple accidents due to the weather. We honestly couldn’t have been any luckier though. Because the weather cleared just in time for the proposal and some quick engagement photos afterwards. Then the rain started again. Steve and Melissa totally embraced it though…and we even got some steamy photos in the rain. Major “Notebook” vibes here LOL!
We incorporated some props into the proposal session as well. Melissa’s sister brought a couple of cute signs. They also had the red roses, a custom bandana on their furbaby Pinot, and even champagne and glasses for a celebratory toast!
This is definitely one of my favorites from their Denver proposal photos. So romantic…newly engaged, kissing in the rain! Love it!
