The Larsens + 1 on the way | Colorado Family Maternity Photography | Echo Lake Park

I have had the pleasure of working with this awesome family several times now! Kailey and Leland’s engagement session and wedding. Then their first maternity session, an in-home lifestyle newborn session once Lucas arrived. Another mountain lake family session, and then this late summer family session awaiting baby Andrew. For this Colorado family maternity photography session we met up at Echo Lake in Idaho Springs. This is definitely becoming a favorite location of mine! It is beautiful, doesn’t require a paid permit, is pretty easy to get to, and accessible year round. It worked out beautifully for their session.

I love the variety of photos that we were able to capture! We got a great mix of candids and smiley portraits. We captured family maternity photos by the beautiful mountain lake, and in the wooded forest area. Kailey also made two outfit changes during our session. She started with an adorable burnt orange sweater over a cream colored dress. Next, she wanted to show off that perfect, bare belly. She put on cutoff jeans, a cream crop top, and with a flannel over top. Finally, she wore one of the maternity dresses that I offer in my client closet. She chose the same royal blue, sheer gown that she also wore during her maternity session for Lucas.

Wow, did the weather and lighting change for this last outfit. Some crazy, thick fog rolled in. You could barely see the mountains, but holy cow did it look ah-mazing! It was giving total Twilight vibes LOL! It was getting really cold, and I didn’t want the foggy drive to be too dangerous for all of us heading back to the front range. Therefore, we only captured a handful of epic shots in the fog and called it a day. What an awesome session though!

While I love a bunch of the images from the Larsen’s Colorado family maternity photography session, this is definitely one of my favorites! It shows that you can still really tell a story, even without any faces (well baby Andrew’s face in utero is there I suppose LOL).

Thanks so much Larsen family…it’s always such an honor capturing so many of your special moments in life! You guys are such awesome people, and I look forward to hopefully working together for years to come. I hope all goes well with baby Andrew’s arrival. I can’t wait to meet him!
