Last month I had the pleasure of capturing Baillie’s Denver Botanic Gardens senior photos. While I have shot numerous times at the Chatfield Farms location, this was my first time shooting at the main Denver location. It was stunning! I really hope I get to go back again and again, because there is so much I didn’t get to see. Just minutes after we started Baillie’s session the rain started and we had to take cover. We had to wait it out, because we had paid for the pricey photo permit they require. They won’t reschedule due to weather, so we definitely wanted to wait and see if it would clear up. Thank goodness it did! As they say…if you don’t like the weather in Colorado five minutes. While it took longer than five, it did clear and stayed away the remainder of the evening.
A few years ago I captured Baillie’s brother’s senior photos at Golden Ponds. It always means so much to work with families again and again. Baillie’s family first heard of my business through my connections to Dance Dimensions. Baillie dances at the studio where I grew up dancing, then taught classes for nearly a decade, and I am back now again taking the adult hip hop class again (as long as my post-surgery back will cooperate). Baillie has been part of the Starbound competitive company, which I also participated in. She, however, has decided to not continue with the competitive company during her senior year, so she has a lot more time to participate in school events and make a lot of fun memories.
Baillie selected four outfits for her senior session. Well, one of the outfit changes was just a change in top. So 3 1/2 outfits LOL! She started in a coral romper and cowgirl boots. This was such a flattering color and went beautifully with all the green at the gardens. Her second outfit was very unique, and my personal favorite. It was a tiered mauve tulle skirt and a floral tube top. She added her pointe shoes for a few photos to incorporate her love of dance into her session. Next, Baillie put on another unique combo…denim overalls with a black leather tube top underneath. This was an unexpected choice, but it looked really great! Finally, a simple white top and white converse along with the same overalls. I love the variety we got during her session.
This is one of my favorites from Baillie’s Denver Botanic Gardens senior photos. I love this colorful setting, and her super cool leather meets denim outfit.
While I expected to see tons of gorgeous flowers at the Denver Botanic Gardens, I didn’t expect so much other beauty there. I absolutely loved the cool water features, art installations, wooden doors, unique bridges and arches….so much cool stuff! Let’s plan your botanic gardens session soon, so we can do even more exploring.
Thanks so much Baillie. I hope senior year is going amazingly well so far and you are making some lifelong memories. I hope you love these photos as much as I do, and will cherish them forever. In a few days I am capturing a surprise proposal in Denver. I will be sure to share those here just as soon as I can, so check back soon!
