Today on the blog I am sharing Natalie’s Colorado ballerina senior photos. This young lady lives and breathes dance. So, incorporating ballet into her fall senior portraits was an absolute must. She really wanted to be on pointe, in a tutu, on the edge of a mountain during her session. We considered a ton of locations, but then decided on Lost Gulch Overlook for the dance portion of the session. It definitely fit the bill! Although Natalie is a bit on the shy side, and there (like always) were a ton of people at Lost Gulch, hanging out on the rocks. We definitely made it work though, and created some amazing stuff together! We also had the most dreamy, golden hour light on top of the mountain. It was all around gorgeous.
In order to get a little more variety, we actually started up the road a ways at an aspen grove at Gross Reservoir. I found this little hidden gem a few years back. Although things were a touch greener than we had hoped, we still got some beautiful fall vibes. Natalie kept things easy with two outfits during her mountain session. She started in a sage green, cap sleeve dress and comfy sandals. She kept her long brunette locks straight, and wore simple makeup, for a pretty minimalist look. She kept this outfit on for the first part of our Lost Gulch Overlook portraits. Her second outfit was much more intricate. It was an eye-catching purple tutu, with lace and floral embellishments and some rhinestone bling! Her ballerina look was completed with your classic pale pink tights and shiny pointe shoes.
This is definitely one of my favorites from Natalie’s Colorado ballerina senior photos. So impressive…she was going on pointe on the edge of a cliff, on some very uneven rocks. That lilac tutu looks stunning against the blues of the mountains and sky. Love it!
You may remember that I am a former dancer as well. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that this session kind of made me want to buy (or find my old) pointe shoes to see what I could still do LOL. But after back surgery and a related foot issue, I would probably just hurt myself by overestimating my abilities. Oy…it’s tough getting older! Natalie, I hope you enjoyed your senior photography experience. I loved meeting and photographing you. I wish you all of the best in your academic and dance future. May your love of dance last a lifetime! Next on the blog, the sweet young Rogers family from Golden Ponds Nature Area in Longmont. Have a great day…thanks for stopping by!
