The Mross family was visiting from Texas and wanted a photography session to remember their winter vacation. These Winter Park family pictures almost didn’t happen. Mother Nature was not being particularly nice and dumped massive amounts of snow all over Colorado. I didn’t get crazy amounts in Firestone, nor did they in Winter Park. There were areas between there and here, however, that got 40″ in less than two days. Some GPS apps were showing major road closures, and I didn’t know if I could safely get up to Grand County. Then, my son’s school called a snow day and I no longer had child care.
Well, long story short, my husband was able to leave work early and I took the chance and headed up there. The roads were totally fine! There were some massive snowbanks on the sides of the roads, but the roads weren’t icy or snow packed. Once I got up to Devil’s Thumb Ranch, I couldn’t believe how mild and sunny it was up there. I was even hoping for a few clouds in the sky. But we managed to get some great variety for this out-of-state family before they headed home. We got plenty of snowy mountain views, incorporated some wooden fences, lots of pine trees, and then we ended with some fun, candids in the snow. The kids had a little snowball fight, and even tossed snow at me.
This is one of my favorites from the Mross’ Winter Park family pictures. I loved that snowy mountain backdrop and these great smiles! The Mross family also wore some great outfits, with a white, tan, and brown color scheme. The siblings in matching plaid are especially adorable!
Thanks Mross family. I hope you had a wonderful and memorable ski vacation. I hope you love these photos and will enjoy them for years to come. Next up on the blog, Sarah’s graduation portraits from the CSU school of veterinary medicine. Her wife and furbabies also joined for some family pictures as well. It was a beautiful spring evening in Fort Collins. I loved the images we created together 🙂 See you back here next week!
