The King Family | Family Photos in Boulder Colorado | One Year Cake Smash Session

A new month upon us, my busiest one of the year typically! For my first share of the new month, I am bringing you the lovely King family. You may recognize mom and dad from their engagement, wedding, or maternity photos. This was the first time meeting little Blaise, right around his first birthday. We went to South Mesa for these family photos in Boulder Colorado. At the end of the session, we also snuck in some adorable one year cake smash photos. They brought along a few balloons, a homemade cake, wooden cake stand and a neutral, beige blanket. This totally goes to show you can still get some great, simple cake smash photos without an elaborate studio space. By the end of the session little Blaise was a happy camper (I’m sure all that sugar played a role)!

We obviously started with the family photos, so everyone was looking their best (and cleanest). They all looked amazing in various shades of blue. Blaise had the cutest little white overalls with his name embroidered in a light blue color. So adorable! Blaise was pretty serious at first, he definitely took a bit to warm up to me. But he certainly had some fun when his parents were lifting him high into the air, “supermanning” him toward the camera, and during the shoulder rides. I managed to capture a handful of very cute smiles from him. No tears, so that is a win in my book! All in all it was a very successful family session. I hope they will treasure these photos for many years to come!
