Back up to Brainard Lake Recreation Area for today’s blog post. This time for Claire’s Colorado mountain lake senior pictures. Like every session I had up there this year, it was pretty chilly and we feared the rain would ruin our session. We did get a few minutes of rain. But you know the saying, if you don’t like the weather in Colorado, wait ten minutes. This was oh so true…thankfully! Claire decided on four outfits during her senior session and we incorporated numerous props relating to her love of art. I have photographed a lot of hobbies over the years, but I am pretty sure this was my first artist. She brought some beautiful paintings and pencil drawings, a paint palette, easel, brushes, and even a skateboard that she painted. Absolutely awesome stuff!
Claire’s first outfit was striped sweater, a denim skirt, and some cute combat boots. We started on the south side of the lake. We got photos with the gorgeous mountain views and the large driftwood that’s been there for several years (although it’s way smaller than it used to be). Next, we headed over to the forest and river area before it got too dark over there amongst the trees. At that location Claire wore a long dark brown skirt and a floral napkin top. Those earthy, boho vibes went so well with the forest location. This is the quick section of the photo shoot where the rain made an appearance. We got a few cute smiles in the rain before taking a quick break in the rain and returning to the main lake area.
Claire’s third outfit was a short, floral dress with spaghetti straps and those beige combat boots again. In this outfit we took pictures on the north side of the lake, as well as on the bridge and the stone wall. We walked over to a nearby field for the final outfit, which included all of the art-themed images. This was my personal favorite of Claire’s four outfits. She wore white jeans, a multi-colored floral crop top and white Nikes. The vibrant top was very pretty and worked so well for the colorful, artsy photos with the painting props.

How beautiful is this painting?! Well done Claire!

Saving my favorite for last! What a fun ending to Claire’s Colorado mountain lake senior pictures. Although this one doesn’t show off the mountains or the lake, it’s unique and colorful and so very personal for Claire.

What an amazing session! Besides being a gifted artist, Claire is also a competitive swimmer. She really wanted to incorporate that into her senior session as well. But obviously swimming in this cold mountain lake above 10,000 feet would not be realistic. So we planned a second senior session at the indoor pool she swims at. I will share those on the blog too, just as soon as I can! In the meantime, on the blog next I will be sharing Ellen’s Boulder senior photos from Betasso Preserve. I hope you will check back soon 🙂
