Nicole + Zach | Colorado Couples Pictures | Longmont Engagement Photographs

April 14, 2018

Here it is folks…my 300th blog post! Wow, I cannot believe it! It seems like just yesterday when I was too afraid to blog, because I had no clue what I was doing. Now look at me go LOL! And how fun that my 300th blog post is a sweet photography friend of mine. I have known Nicole for a few years now. She was even my second shooter at a Longmont wedding in 2016 🙂 It had been awhile since she and her husband, Zach, had had couple’s portraits taken. They had also recently got a new (and completely adorable) puppy, Zander. When Nicole saw my Facebook ad for fall mini sessions, she wanted to book one of the spots…and I was so excited that she did! We met at Coot Lake, where I have done many Longmont engagement photographs and senior and family portraits, over the years. It’s one of my favorite Longmont area locations, but on this day it was insanely windy! We decided to leave and attempt to find a less windy location, before losing too much daylight. Random tangent ahead LOL…but I just realized as I sit here writing this, it is crazy windy again. The wind is whipping and beating against the back of my house. I can’t help but wonder if I will be able to get any sleep tonight! Thankfully the baby is sleeping through it (for now!). Some photographers actually like the wind. Me, however, not so much. If I never had another super windy session again, that would be quite alright with me!

A few days prior to their Colorado couple’s session, I had drove all over Longmont, trying to find the last bit of fall color. I grew up in Longmont, and have photographed a lot of spots in town. Thompson Park, however, was a new location for me. There were lots of colorful leaves all over. Vibrant shades of yellow, orange and even red, carpeted the ground. Huge mature trees, a wrought iron arch covered in greenery, and benches, made for great photo ops. Plus, we practically had the place to ourselves. It worked out perfectly for our session and I will surely be back for future fall sessions! Hint, hint…you know you want to set up your Longmont engagement photographs with Plum Pretty Photography 🙂

Nicole, Zach, and even Zander were amazing to photograph. I always get the slightest bit nervous photographing other photographers. They may judge posing, composition, sharpness, editing, etc. a lot more critically than the average client. Thankfully, they loved their couple’s pictures (so did I)! These two were sweet and silly together, and it made my job easy and very enjoyable. I loved their couple’s flannels too. And the pop of color in Nicole’s hair is so fun, and even matched Zach’s shirt.
