Meet Aleah! One of the beautiful class of 2020 seniors I had the pleasure of working with last summer. We met up in Lyons and the weather was a bit questionable. We were basically the opposite of storm chasers. For her Colorado mountain senior pictures we were storm run awayers lol! So instead of shooting in Lyons, we headed up to Estes to hopefully avoid the rainstorm. I didn’t have a permit for Rocky Mountain National Park and so I was scrambling to think of somewhere to go. Mary’s Lake it was!
This was the first time I captured senior photos at Mary’s Lake, and it worked out beautifully! There is so much variety at this location. We got mountain views, the lake, with the closest thing we can get to a beach in Colorado. There are also many cool rock formations, trees, and even some wildflowers. Thankfully we managed to avoid the bad weather, and the dramatic skies looked amazing in the photos. After getting a bunch of great stuff in Estes, we headed back toward Lyons, to a stunning wild poppy field. I have shot here before for Betsy and Corey’s couple’s portraits. Check those out HERE!
For these flower photos, I had to shoot strategically in order to look like Aleah was in a large flower field. When, in actuality, it is a pretty small section of flowers. The sky remained dramatic and completely epic. The umbrella for my off-camera flash broke on me, so I kind of had to MacGyver that! But it truly made the sky pop. We probably spent a little too long at Mary’s Lake, because we were losing light. But we still managed to get a ton of great flower shots, which was one of the biggest priorities for Aleah. What a fun shoot, and a sweet and gracious young lady! I may not say it enough, but I sure love my job 🙂
And sending you off with one of my favorites from Aleah’s Colorado mountain senior pictures!
Thanks so much Aleah! I had the best time working together 🙂 As I have mentioned in other blog posts, I am so very sorry your senior year is ending this way. This isn’t fair to all of you! I hope you still had some amazing memories during your high school years, to look back fondly on. Hopefully you and your family are staying well. Enjoy your summer…and I hope there are very bright things in your future!
If you are looking to set up your, or your child’s, class of 2021 senior portraits, let’s chat now! June and July are starting to fill up, so don’t delay. Have a great weekend ahead all! I am sure looking forward to getting out there and shooting this weekend. Although the face mask, will be a bit of a challenge. Yay, some fresh engagement photos will be coming to my Facebook and Instagram pages soon!
Lovely photos, congrats on your graduation!
